The Memphis Grizzlies have signed guard Shaquille Harrison to a 10-day contract under the NBA’s COVID-related hardship exception.

The Grizzlies currently have Desmond Bane, Kyle Anderson and Tyus Jones In COVID-19 protocols.

Harrison (6-4, 195) has appeared in 175 career games (23 starts) over five NBA seasons with Phoenix, Chicago, Utah, Denver and Brooklyn and has averaged 5.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists and 15.2 minutes. He totaled four points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 23 minutes in two games for the Nets earlier this season.

The Detroit Pistons have received interest in Jerami Grant from the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, New York Knicks, Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings.

The Pistons are seeking either two first round picks or one first round pick plus a high upside young player in exchange for Grant.

Grant expects to sign a lucrative extension in the ballpark of four years, $112 million this offseason.

Washington is viewed by some league personnel as a favorite to trade for Grant. Grant grew up in the D.C. area and is familiar with Wes Unseld Jr. from their time together with the Denver Nuggets. 

The Memphis Grizzlies have been mentioned in some circles speculatively, but they're not expected to pursue Grant.

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed wing Dakota Mathias to a second 10-day contract under the NBA’s COVID-related hardship exception.

Mathias (6-4, 200) signed his first 10-day contract with the Grizzlies on Dec. 29 and totaled six points and two rebounds in four minutes over four games.

Undrafted in 2018 NBA Draft following a four-year collegiate career at Purdue, the 26-year-old has appeared in 12 career games (two starts) for the Grizzlies and Philadelphia 76ers and has averaged 4.5 points and 1.1 assists in 10.9 minutes. He also played 42 games for the NBA G League’s Texas Legends during the 2019-20 season and averaged 18.1 points while shooting 39.5% from 3-point range.

Fred VanVleet and Ja Morant have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for Week 12.

VanVleet averaged 30.3 points, 6.5 assists and 4.8 rebounds as the Toronto Raptors went 4-0.

Morant averaged 25.0 points, 6.8 assists and 6.3 rebounds as the Memphis Grizzlies went 5-0. 

Ja Morant and DeMar DeRozan have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for Week 11.

Morant averaged 34.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists as the Memphis Grizzlies went 3-0.

DeRozan averaged 27.8 points, 7.3 assists and 5.3 rebounds as the Chicago Bulls went 4-0.

Killian Tillie's solid play while the Memphis Grizzlies have navigated injuries and health and safety protocol absences has paid off. Memphis signed Tillie to a two-year, $4 million contract.

While on his second Two-Way contract with the Grizzlies, Tillie has averaged 3.4 points per game.

In order to open the roster spot for Tillie, Memphis waived guard Sam Merrill. The Grizzlies took a $1.5 million cap hit in dead money by waiving Merrill off his fully guaranteed contract. Merrill is expected to miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season after ankle surgery.

To fill their open Two-Way spot, Memphis signed guard Tyrell Terry. Terry had been with the Grizzlies on a 10-day hardship contract.

The Memphis Grizzlies signed veteran wing DaQuan Jeffries to a 10-Day Hardship Contract. Memphis currently has several players out due to injuries and the health and safety protocols.

Jeffries has played for the College Park Skyhawks after being waived at the end of the preseason by the Atlanta Hawks. In eight G League games, Jeffries averaged 15.4 points and 1.3 steals per game.

Jeffries has also played for the Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets during his NBA career.
