Henderson Set To Return To Dallas On Tuesday

Feb 28, 2005 6:26 PM

Alan Henderson and the Mavericks have an agreement in principle for the 6-10 forward to return to the team, possibly as early as Tuesday.

Henderson was traded with Calvin Booth to Milwaukee last Thursday. The Bucks waived Henderson the following day and he will clear waivers on Tuesday.

"We have an agreement," coach and general manager Don Nelson said. "Nothing is official until it is signed. But we feel very good about getting him back."

Nelson said he hopes to have Henderson on the upcoming road trip that starts Wednesday in Los Angeles vs. the Clippers.

In 52 games this season for Dallas, he averaged 3.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, primarily off the bench.

Redd Holds The Key To The Bucks Future

Feb 27, 2005 7:12 PM

Ray Allen is the reason I didn?t get much sleep on Saturday night. Michael Redd, on the other hand, will be the reason I will be able to sleep soundly from now on. I stayed up late Saturday and woke up bright and early Sunday morning, reflecting on the glorious past of Ray Allen dawning a Milwaukee Bucks uniform. The more I thought about Ray, the more I missed him. Even Larry Harris called shipping Allen to Seattle quite possibly the worst trade to Bucks franchise history.  As I sat at the game wondering how the Bucks went from within one shot of the NBA Finals to a lottery team fighting to stay above water, the next 48 minutes of basketball changed me.

We are going to be alright after all. After watching Michael Redd dismantle the Sonics for 35 points, I have come to realize that we may never see Ray Allen in a Bucks uniform, but if there ever is a clone on this planet of Ray, I?m darn sure it?s Michael Redd. Allen and Redd were best friends when they both played together and it is obvious that Ray has rubbed off on Michael. Not only is Michael as swift as Ray on the court, off the court he has been everything a fan can ask of him. Nobody will ever be able to replace Ray Allen in this community and Michael Redd isn?t trying too, he is just trying to be remembered for his own legacy and what his impact will be on this team.

Sonic Meltdown In Milwaukee At The Hands Of Michael Redd

Feb 27, 2005 5:29 PM

In Ray Allen?s first game back in Milwaukee the first quarter score said it all.  The Seattle SuperSonics began the second quarter down 31-10 to the 22-31 Milwaukee Bucks, unable to buy a bucket.

The Sonics shot poorly versus Minnesota and still managed to pull out the win in the fourth quarter.  If they could do it versus the Garnett-powered Timberwolves, than by process of deduction, the Bucks would be even easier to come back against.

It never got any better.  The Supersonics had no answer for Ray Allen?s replacement Michael Redd.  Every time the Sonics tried to make a run, Redd was there with an answer.  The fourth quarter tone was set by Redd when he picked Flip Murray with 4 seconds left in the third, drove the court and finished with an emphatic jam with no time left on the clock.  Redd finished with 35 points on 14-25 shooting.  Compare that to Ray Allen who finished with 16 points on just 4-16 shooting.  The Sonics were blown out by the Bucks 99-73, a rare thrashing for the Sonics, but the fact that it is rare did not make it any easier to swallow.

Redd Outplays Allen In His Return To Milwaukee

Feb 27, 2005 5:23 PM

Michael Redd scored 35 points for the Bucks, as they blew out Ray Allen and the SuperSonics by a final score of 99-73.

The game was out of reach in the first quarter when Milwaukee held the Sonics to just 10 points, while scoring 31 of their own.

This was Allen's first game back in Milwaukee and he was held to just 16 points on 4 of 16 shooting.

Milwaukee will host the new-look Sixers on Tuesday.

Allen Returns To Milwaukee For First Game Since Trade

Feb 27, 2005 2:59 PM

Ray Allen will play his first game at the Bradley Center since  being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks two seasons ago.  Allen missed last season's game due to an ankle injury.

?I can see like ghosts running around here. You see past players that you?ve played with coming out of doorways and shots going up from players you used to play with a long time ago,? Allen said Saturday.

?I don?t harbor resentment against anybody. They didn?t do me wrong here, they traded me,? Allen said. ?They made a decision to move on, to go in another direction. Same as Seattle on their side and the guys they moved. There?s no hard feelings.

?Emotionally, I won?t try to attach myself any more to the game than this is a team we?ve got to beat. It won?t be any deeper than that. I?ll see people in the crowd. Familiar faces before and after the game are one thing, but once I get onto the floor, it?s basketball.?

Bucks Waive Henderson Making Him Free To Return To Dallas

Feb 25, 2005 5:15 PM

Allan Henderson is now free to return to Dallas after being waived on waivers today just one day after his trade.

The Bucks acquired Henderson and Calvin Booth, along with $250,000, in exchange for forward Keith Van Horn on Thursday. Milwaukee plans to keep Booth.

Asked Thursday night of the proposition of rejoining the Mavericks, Henderson said: "I don't know anything about that."

"If we can get him back that's the best of both worlds," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said.

Bucks Trade Van Horn To Dallas

Feb 24, 2005 2:59 PM

In a move to improve their odds of signing Michael Redd, the Milwaukee Bucks have traded Keith Van Horn.

League sources tell ESPN.com that the Bucks beat the 3 p.m. ET Thursday trading deadline by agreeing to send Van Horn to Dallas for Calvin Booth, the expiring contract of Alan Henderson and minimal cash considerations.

Moving Van Horn, in addition to the trade of Mike James to Houston earlier Thursday, removes nearly $13 million in salary-cap obligations from the Bucks' payroll next season.

Bucks Trade James, Hamilton To Rockets For Gaines

Feb 24, 2005 1:42 PM

General Manager Larry Harris announced today that the Milwaukee Bucks have acquired guard Reece Gaines and two second round draft picks (2006, 2007) from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Mike James and center Zendon Hamilton.

Currently in his second NBA season, Gaines, 24, has averaged 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10 games for the Rockets. Gaines was originally selected by the Orlando Magic with the 15th pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and scored 1.8 points, 1.1 assists and 1.0 rebound in 38 games during his rookie campaign. A 6-6, 205-lb native of Madison, WI, Gaines attended Madison West High School and was named Third Team All-America by the Associated Press in his senior year at the University of Louisville.

James, 29, appeared in 47 games for Milwaukee this season and averaged 11.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest. The fourth-year guard signed with the Bucks on August 5, after winning an NBA Championship with the Detroit Pistons in 2004.

Hamilton, 29, averaged 3.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 16 games with the Bucks this season. In 122 NBA games over his five-year career, Hamilton sports averages of 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest.

Bucks Trade Mike James to Houston

Feb 24, 2005 12:08 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to a deadline-beating trade, but it doesn't involve Michael Redd.

League sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the Bucks will send guard Mike James to Houston later Thursday for a package including Reece Gaines and two future second-round picks.

The Rockets have coveted James all season for guard depth, and trading him would relieve Milwaukee of the $7.1 million left on James' contract after this season.

The Bucks have been trying to trade Keith Van Horn and James this week in hopes of creating more financial flexibility to re-sign Redd this offseason.

Cleveland, according to league sources, is the Redd suitor feared most by Milwaukee, and the Cavaliers should have the salary-cap space in July to make the former Ohio State star a strong offer.

Milwaukee Wins Their Fifth In Seven Games

Feb 24, 2005 3:31 AM

One day after scoring 29 points in Charlotte, Michael Redd scored just 11 points, but the result was the same, a convincing Milwaukee win.  The 100-81 win is the Bucks fifth in seventh game.

One day after telling reporters that he wants to 'retire' with Milwaukee, he continued to field questions regarding his status with the club.

``I'm not worried at all, not worried at all,'' Redd said. ``When I say that, I meant it. I believe that I'll be here.''
