With #1 Pick, Bucks Increase Their Chances Of Keeping Redd

May 26, 2005 2:24 PM

The Bucks #1 player is now more likely to say in Milwaukee after the Bucks won the draft lottery on Tuesday.  Guard Michael Redd will become an unrestricted free-agent at seasons end and many have speculated that he might go to Cleveland among other places.

The Bucks will be able to choose between highly touted center Andrew Bogut, forward Marvin Williams or point guard Chris Paul.

Having one of them could be the clincher in Redd's decision to return. He has told general manager Larry Harris he wants to play for the Bucks again, but only if they are able to contend.

"I told him we would do whatever we can," Harris said. "Phase one is done. So now we have to make sure we make the right decision."

Luck Eludes The Atlanta Hawks...Again

May 24, 2005 10:59 PM

Lottery luck continues to allude the Atlanta Hawks. Statistically, they had the best chance to land the number one overall selection. This was the worst season in franchise history. It seemed only fair to get the top pick. But no, the Milwaukee Bucks get that honor. They came in second.

Though in this draft, not having the number one pick could be a blessing in disguise. Every scout, analyst, and fan has pointed out that this draft class doesn?t feature any "stars". There?s no LeBron James, Dwight Howard, or Yao Ming; no can?t-miss franchise cornerstone.

Redd Not A Lock To Return To Milwaukee

May 15, 2005 2:34 PM

The Beacon-Journal is reporting that Michael Redd isn't a lock to resign with the Milwaukee Bucks, as was reported a few weeks ago.

Redd is weighing his options and would like to end up on a good team and the Cavaliers are one of the teams that has cap space and a chance to win.

The Cavaliers will also be looking at Larry Hughes, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson and Bobby Simmons.

Bucks Will Have Porter Back For Next Season

May 6, 2005 5:49 PM

In the midst of a coach clean-out in Milwaukee, Terry Porter?s job as head coach was apparently never in danger.

"It was never in question, never in doubt," Harris said of Porter's job.

Two assistants, Mike Schuler and Jerome Kersey were fired from the Bucks coaching staff.

The Bucks' intentions concerning head coach Terry Porter could be announced as early as Thursday although it might be held off until Friday, but it appears that he will be retained.
