Baron Scores 25 And Dishes 15 In Win At Milwaukee

Mar 30, 2005 10:35 PM

The Warriors began a quick two-game road trip with an impressive 113-109 win at Milwaukee.

Baron Davis, finding the form that made him an All-Star, scored 25 points to go with his 15 assists, including 4th quarter alley-oops to Jason Richardson and Mickael Pietrus.

Richardson's came after an impressive block, which he then saved from going out of bounds.  Running the entire length of the floor, Davis found Richardson for the alley-oop.

Pietrus' came as the shot clock was winding down and Davis was posting up.  Seeing the defensive lapse on the weak side, Pietrus broke for the basket and Davis found him for the two points and the foul.

Pietrus continued to make it clear who the Warriors' small forward of the future will be, scoring 21 points on 6-9 shooting and playing shutdown defense on Michael Redd.

Troy Murphy had yet another double-double, scoring 18 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

With the win the Warriors improved their record to 26-45.

Sloan Passes Auerbach On Career Win List

Mar 27, 2005 4:58 AM

Jerry Sloan passed Red Auerbach for sixth place on the career victory list with win No. 939 when the Jazz beat the Milwaukee Bucks 94-89.

``Passing Red Auerbach is kind of silly because I don't feel like I've passed him. It's not important to me,'' Sloan said. ``He's a great coach that's had great success with great teams.''

The loss dropped the Bucks to a perfect 0-15 against Western Conference opponents on the road this season.

Kris Humphries had a career-high 17 points for the Jazz, Gordon Giricek had 13 and Matt Harpring 12, while Raja Bell led all Jazz scorers with 23 points.

Fisher's Buzzer-Beater Gives Warriors Clutch Victory

Mar 26, 2005 4:16 PM

The most dramatic finish of the Warriors' season ? thanks to Derek Fisher?s buzzer-beater against the Bucks ? is the latest installment of excitement and hopefulness for Warriors fans.

Forget about losing games to gain better draft position. What?s important is that the Warriors learn to win, play together, gain respect around the league and head into next season on a positive and optimistic note.

That?s exactly what they?re doing, with an 8-7 record since the Baron Davis trade, including four wins in the last five games.

The more they win, the higher expectations will be for next year. That could be good or bad, but it doesn?t matter right now. All that matters is for the Warriors to once again become a respectable NBA franchise.

They bounced back after having their three-game win streak snapped against Dallas. Earlier in the season, their four-game winning streak was snapped with nine straight losses.

Perhaps the hottest Warrior is Mickael Pietrus. Remember him? Pietrus has been the most inconsistent Warrior this year, but lately he?s been consistently good. In the past, Pietrus was only effective on offense when his 3-point shot was going in. When he missed his 3?s, he disappeared.

Not the last two games. Against the Bucks, Pietrus was 1-4 from downtown, yet he managed to score 18 points and played spectacular defense on Michael Redd and Desmond Mason. On Wednesday, he was 0-3 from long range but scored 22 points on 8-13 shooting. Also, he was a combined 11-13 from the line in the two games.

Ronald ?Flip? Murray Likely To Start Versus Bucks

He proved his worth last year, filling in for an injured Ray Allen, and tonight he will get another chance to show why he is the best player in the NBA who never gets to play.

"You've got to be patient," Murray said. "That's how it is in this league. For you to make it in this league, you've got to be patient. Especially if you're not playing a lot."

Murray scored 25 points last Sunday in 30 minutes after Allen went down with a sprained ankle in the first quarter.
