Marc Lasry: NBA Board Could Vote On Resuming Season 'Early Next Week'

May 29, 2020 1:37 AM

Milwaukee Bucks owner Marc Lasry said that the NBA board of governors could vote on resuming the season "early next week" during an appearance on CNBC's Halftime.

Lasry said that Adam Silver will present "different options" for resuming play on Friday, with the board taking the weekend to consider his proposal.

The Bucks owner added that he believes the season will resume at Disney World, with the biggest question centered around the number of teams that will be allowed to play.

“I think at the end of the day, we’ll be in Orlando at Disney. The question is going to be will we have all 30 teams there or will we have 24; whatever the number will end up being. But hopefully, by the middle of July, we start playing again.”

Jon Leuer Announces Retirement From NBA

May 24, 2020 7:21 PM

Jon Leuer announced his retirement from the NBA in an Instagram post.

"I love the game of basketball. I still want to play, but I know deep down it’s not the right decision for my health anymore. The past 3 years I’ve dealt with a number of injuries, including 2 that kept me out this whole season. It’s taken me a while to come to grips with this, but I’m truly at peace with my decision to officially retire," wrote Leuer on Instagram.

Leuer, an eight-year veteran of the league, averaged 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds for his career.

Leuer was most recently traded to the Bucks before last June's NBA Draft.

Giannis Antetokounmpo: Giannis And The Greek Freak Are Two Different People

May 21, 2020 4:05 PM

Giannis Antetokounmpo has embraced the on-court moniker of Greek Freak, but he acknowledges that there's a difference between his basketball perception and his laid-back personal lifestyle.

Antetokounmpo also recently became a father for the first time.

"The most important thing is you cannot lose yourself in it. There's a lot of pressure, there's a lot of things that are going to try to pull you from 'come this way, do this.' For example, this event with Nike, or tomorrow you've got to do this event with T-Mobile," Antetokounmpo said. "Like, there's so many things that you're going to have in front of you that you've got to do, but you've just got to be able to balance your personal life with the Greek Freak life. Giannis and the Greek Freak are two different people. I hope that doesn't sound arrogant -- I'm not trying to sound arrogant -- but that's how I'm trying to think. I'm trying to think when I'm with my family, I'm with my family. Sometimes when you're the MVP, you're the leader of the team, you've got to do a photo shoot and all that, you lose yourself, and whenever I'm with my family, I'm myself."

Warriors Have Been Preparing For Years To Pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo

May 7, 2020 4:57 PM

The Golden State Warriors have been preparing for years to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to a source. The Warriors similarly planned for multiple years to pursue Kevin Durant as a free agent in 2016.

Antetokounmpo can sign a supermax extension with the Bucks in 2020, or opt for free agency in 2021.

League sources also believe Antetokounmpo would want to leave the Bucks if he loses confidence in the franchise's capacity to win championships. The Bucks had the NBA's best record when the season was suspended in March.

The Warriors' best chance of acquiring Antetokounmpo would likely come through a trade.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne said on “The Jump” in September that Golden State has “always been the big threat” to the Bucks in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.
