Pat Connaughton Displacing Small Businesses, Residents With Plans To Tear Down Historic Building

Nov 27, 2020 2:26 PM

Pat Connaughton of the Milwaukee Bucks is leading an investor group with plans to begin developing a new apartment building in the Brewers Hill neighborhood in Milwaukee.

Approximately a half-dozen small businesses in a historic, two-story building will be forced to move for the apartment building that will be built after the existing building is demolished.

The 13,400-square-foot building's tenants, both small businesses and residents in two apartments, are being displaced.

Connaughton agreed to sign a three-year, $16 million deal with the Bucks last week.

"This is not 'progress!' Because of people like you, Milwaukee will become another generic, corporate-owned city," Mary Carolan, a Madam Chino customer, wrote in an email to Connaughton that she shared with several news media outlets.

At Least One Rival Team Filed Formal Complaint On Bogdan Bogdanovic Deal

Nov 25, 2020 11:22 AM

At least one rival team filed a formal complaint to the NBA league office on Wednesday regarding the Milwaukee Bucks' reported sign-and-trade for Bogdan Bogdanovic, sources tell Eric Fischer of Bleacher Report.

The league informed both the Bucks and Sacramento Kings that afternoon that it would open an investigation into the alleged sign-and-trade already being agreed to between the parties.

Bogdanovic's camp insisted they never discussed the particulars of an agreement with Bucks officials and that they were only made aware of the negotiations. Bogdanovic even let Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thannis Antetokounmpo know he had never agreed to a contract with the Bucks.

The Bucks and Kings agreed to a framework of a sign-and-trade with Donte DiVincenzo, Ersan Ilyasova and D.J. Wilson going to Sacramento in exchange for Bogdanovic and Justin James. The Bucks would have then become free to negotiate a contract with Bogdanovic when free agency opened on Friday.

All the players included within the trade framework were notified.

Bucks, Pacers Discussed Donte DiVincenzo, George Hill, No. 24 For Victor Oladipo

Nov 25, 2020 11:12 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks pursued a trade for Victor Oladipo this offseason, but the Indiana Pacers ultimately declined their advances.

The two sides discussed a trade of Donte DiVincenzo, George Hill and the No. 24 pick in the 2020 draft.

The Bucks eventually traded Hill and the No. 24 pick to the New Orleans Pelicans for Jrue Holiday.

DiVincenzo was included in the sign-and-trade for Bogdan Bogdanovic that eventually was called off.

Giannis Antetokounmpo's Preferred Offseason Addition Was Bogdan Bogdanovic

Nov 25, 2020 11:24 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo stayed in regular contact with Bogdan Bogdanovic over the past few months, sources tell Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

They spoke numbers times over the phone and during a few calls Giannis communicated his desire to become teammates with Bogdanovic.

"Giannis admired his fellow European's toughness and swagger, sources" tell Fischer.

There was tremendous confidence within the Bucks that Antetokounmpo would sign the supermax when it appeared the team would trade for Jrue Holiday and also acquire Bogdanovic.

"There has since been a categorical step back in that confidence, even if Antetokounmpo does ultimately accept the franchise's offer of a five-year, $228 million supermax extension," writes Fischer.

Early conversations with the Sacramento Kings centered on Eric Bledsoe and the No. 24 pick. The Kings insisted on Donte DiVincenzo being included, just as the Indiana Pacers had with their Victor Oladipo talks.

Bogdanovic was communicated as Antetokoumpo's preferred addition all offseason.

Because the Bucks used the contracts of Bledsoe and George Hill to acquire Holiday, they would be more limited in what they could offer Bogdanovic in a sign-and-trade.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Could Sign Supermax With Implicit Right For Trade In Future

Nov 25, 2020 7:54 AM

For multiple weeks before the Milwaukee Bucks secured a trade for Jrue Holiday and a presumed sign-and-trade for Bogdan Bogdanovic, Marc Stein of the New York Times writes "there had been promising rumblings in league circles that [Giannis] Antetokounmpo was prepared to sign the extension."

Antetokounmpo is eligible for a supermax extension this offseason in which he can sign a five-year deal for 35 percent of the salary cap worth $230 million. If Antetokounmpo were to sign a shorter deal with the Bucks or with a rival team in 2021, it would be for 30 percent of the cap.

"A belief was building that Antetokounmpo was likely to opt for immediate financial security by signing before the season and quietly reserving the right to try to force a trade later if he was unhappy, as [Paul] George did one season after re-signing in Oklahoma City," adds Stein in his reporting.

The Bucks have been emphatic that they would not consider trading Antetokounmpo if he declines to sign the supermax.

Giannis 'More Impressed' By Heat Signing Adebayo To Extension Than Making Him Wait

Nov 24, 2020 5:07 PM

The Miami Heat will have approximately $13 million in less cap space by signing Bam Adebayo to a max extension. While it would complicate the cap machinations for the Heat, it could increase their odds of acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo in 2021.

"A source who knows Antetokounmpo well said he would be more impressed by the Heat giving Adebayo the extension now than asking Adebayo to wait a year for the purpose of making it easier for the Heat to acquire Antetokounmpo," writes the Miami Herald.

Antetokounmpo and Adebayo are friends and share the same agent in Alex Saratsis

Beyond Antetokounmpo, the 2021 free agency class will have Victor Oladipo, LeBron James, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and Jrue Holiday.

Miami also has interest in trading for Bradley Beal should he become available.

Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo Might Be Waiting On Giannis Decision Before Deciding Contract Type

Nov 23, 2020 3:06 PM

Anthony Davis is in a waiting pattern on his contract terms with the Los Angeles Lakers, which could be connected to the supermax decision Giannis Antetokounmpo is weighing with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks have been "operating under the belief" that Antetokounmpo will sign a supermax extension, but nothing has been agreed upon.

"I think there are two star players waiting to sign to see what Giannis does," said Brian Windhorst on ESPN Radio. "That's Anthony Davis. He's coming back to the Lakers, but he may change the alteration of his contract, the way it's structured, to give the Lakers a window, if not for Giannis but for somebody in a one-plus-one. Because that's what LeBron is now on.

"And Bam Adebayo. If Bam Adebayo signs a max contract, the Heat will not have the room. But if he waits a year, than they will."

Adebayo shares an agent with Antetokounmpo in Alex Saratsis.

Windhorst also described Antetokounmpo's decision as the most impactful in the NBA since Kevin Durant signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

During an additional Windhorst appearance on Sports Center, he reiterated the possibility of Davis signing a one-plus-one if Antetokounmpo decides against the supermax at this time.
