Jul 29, 2015 10:11 AM

The New York Knicks attempted to negotiate with Maurice Ndour even after he reached a verbal agreement to sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

Dallas offered the undrafted Ohio University forward a fully guaranteed deal for more than the $600,000 rookie free-agent minimum, with a second year partially guaranteed.

The Knicks offered Ndour less than a $200,000 guarantee.

Knicks Have Competition In Signing Maurice Ndour

Jul 23, 2015 12:27 PM

Maurice Ndour hopes to sign with the New York Knicks, but several other clubs are interested as well.

“I hope I’ll be back with the Knicks but then again right now I think it’s about situations,” Ndour said in an interview ESPN.com on Tuesday night after watching a game at the Nike Pro City basketball tournament in Manhattan. “It’s about what’s best for yourself. But I like the Knicks, I like the players, playing with them in the summer league was really great. I hope to see them again.”

Ndour opened eyes in Vegas by averaging 9.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in five games.

The Knicks have 11 players signed to guaranteed contracts so they would have room on the roster for Ndour.

LaMarcus Aldridge, Knicks Mutually Canceled Meeting After Center Discussion

Jul 23, 2015 12:24 PM

The New York Knicks wanted LaMarcus Aldridge to play "strictly" at center, which was the reason why the scheduled meeting between the two parties was canceled.

“They didn’t want to meet with me,” Aldridge said. “Some people said it was me. But it was both parties agreeing that we shouldn’t meet.”

League sources say Phil Jackson decided it was best for the Knicks to cancel the meeting with Aldridge because the team prioritized the center position in free agency and Aldridge made it clear that he didn’t want to play center exclusively.

The Knicks had already missed out on Greg Monroe, so they decided to focus on pursuing DeAndre Jordan and Robin Lopez. Lopez was signed to a four-year, $54 million deal by the Knicks.

Aldridge eventually agreed to sign with the San Antonio Spurs.
