May 2015 New York Knicks Wiretap
The New York Knicks have waived Ricky Ledo.
Ledo, 6-7, 195-pounds, averaged 7.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 19.4 minutes in 12 games with New York last season.
He signed the first of two consecutive 10-day contracts on Mar. 19 and then signed for the remainder of the season on Apr. 8.
The New York Knicks have signed Lou Amundson to a contract.
Amundson, 6-9, 225-pounds, was acquired this past season as part of a three-way deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 5, 2015 and signed his first 10-day contract with New York on Jan. 10, 2015. The Ventura, CA-native averaged 6.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 41 games for the Knicks in 2014-15. The nine-year NBA pro holds career averages of 3.8 points and 3.7 rebounds over 399 games.
The New York Knicks have expressed tepid interest in signing Carlos Boozer.
Phil Jackson would still like the Knicks to sign a big man.
Boozer spent last season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The New York Knicks attempted to negotiate with Maurice Ndour even after he reached a verbal agreement to sign with the Dallas Mavericks.
Dallas offered the undrafted Ohio University forward a fully guaranteed deal for more than the $600,000 rookie free-agent minimum, with a second year partially guaranteed.
The Knicks offered Ndour less than a $200,000 guarantee.
Ndour had an impressive Summer League with the Knicks.
Craig Hodges will not be brought back as head coach of the New York Knicks' D-League team.
Hodges took over as head coach of the Westchester Knicks for the final four games of the regular season after Kevin Whitted was fired. Hodges was initially hired last fall to serve as an assistant on Westchester's staff.
It is unclear at this point who Westchester GM Allan Houston will target to fill the coaching vacancy.
Free agent guard Wesley Saunders of Harvard has agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with the New York Knicks, league sources told RealGM.
After going unselected in June’s NBA draft, Saunders joined the Utah Jazz for summer league. In six games for the Jazz in Las Vegas and Utah, Saunders averaged 2.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
A 6-foot-5 playmaker, Saunders averaged 16.6 points along with 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in his senior season at Harvard.
Maurice NDour has agreed to sign with the Dallas Mavericks.
Ndour played in the Summer League with the New York Knicks, but the Mavericks offered more guaranteed money.
Ndour spent two years at Monroe College where he was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region selection before transferring to Ohio University. In his first season at Ohio, Ndour averaged 13.8 points and 7.0 rebounds while starting 31 of his 36 games. As a senior for the Bobcats, he increased those averages to 16.0 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game on his way to being named All-Mid-American Conference Second Team.
Maurice Ndour hopes to sign with the New York Knicks, but several other clubs are interested as well.
“I hope I’ll be back with the Knicks but then again right now I think it’s about situations,” Ndour said in an interview ESPN.com on Tuesday night after watching a game at the Nike Pro City basketball tournament in Manhattan. “It’s about what’s best for yourself. But I like the Knicks, I like the players, playing with them in the summer league was really great. I hope to see them again.”
Ndour opened eyes in Vegas by averaging 9.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in five games.
The Knicks have 11 players signed to guaranteed contracts so they would have room on the roster for Ndour.
The New York Knicks wanted LaMarcus Aldridge to play "strictly" at center, which was the reason why the scheduled meeting between the two parties was canceled.
“They didn’t want to meet with me,” Aldridge said. “Some people said it was me. But it was both parties agreeing that we shouldn’t meet.”
League sources say Phil Jackson decided it was best for the Knicks to cancel the meeting with Aldridge because the team prioritized the center position in free agency and Aldridge made it clear that he didn’t want to play center exclusively.
The Knicks had already missed out on Greg Monroe, so they decided to focus on pursuing DeAndre Jordan and Robin Lopez. Lopez was signed to a four-year, $54 million deal by the Knicks.
Aldridge eventually agreed to sign with the San Antonio Spurs.
