Knicks, Miles McBride Agree To Three-Year, $13M Extension

Dec 30, 2023 10:11 PM

The New York Knicks and point guard Miles McBride have agreed to a three-year, $13 million contract extension. McBride was set to become a restricted free agent this coming offseason.

McBride has appeared in 122 games in two-plus seasons for New York. The third-year guard has career averages of 2.8 points and one assist per game.

McBride has been a favorite for the Knicks, due to his work ethic. He's continually lauded as staying prepared, despite inconsistent playing team.

Knicks Waive DaQuan Jeffries

Dec 30, 2023 4:18 PM

The New York Knicks have waived DaQuan Jeffries. New York will eat just over $800,000 in dead salary for this season after waiving Jeffries.

The Knicks had to make a waiver in order to take in OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn in their Saturday trade with the Toronto Raptors. New York sent RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to Toronto in that deal, along with a 2024 Detroit Pistons second-round pick.

Jeffries appeared in 10 games for the Knicks this season. He's also played for the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies in his five-year career.

Knicks Acquire OG Anunoby From Raptors For RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley

Dec 30, 2023 12:30 PM

The New York Knicks are acquiring OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors. The Raptors will acquire RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and the Detroit Pistons 2024 second-round pick from New York. The Knicks will also acquire Precious Achiuwa and Malachi Flynn in the deal.

Anunoby has an $18.6 million contract for this season, plus a $19.9 million player option for next season. Anunoby is widely expected to opt out of his deal for next season. The Knicks will have his full Bird rights, should Anunoby choose free agency. Anuoby is represented by Drew Morrison, Austin Brown and Sam Rose of CAA.

Achiuwa and Flynn are eligible for restricted free agency this summer.

Barrett has four years and $107 million remaining on his contract, including this season's $23.8 million. Quickley is eligible for restricted free agency this summer, after not agreeing to an extension with New York last offseason.

NBA Moves Knicks-Pistons Game In February To New York

Dec 29, 2023 1:16 AM

The NBA moved the February 26 game between the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks from Detroit to Madison Square Garden.

The reason was due to a unique scheduling issue created by the In-Season Tournament.

The original schedule required the Knicks to travel to Detroit then back to New York for back-to-back games.

The Knicks will now have a four-game homestand from February 24 to 29.

Klutch Sports Reluctant To Work With Knicks

Dec 24, 2023 3:19 PM

The New York Knicks reportedly have interest in trading for Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks. One challenge is that Murray is represented by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

Paul, and Klutch Sports, are reluctant to work with the Knicks. This seems to be driven by the presence of Leon Rose and Williams Wesley, who lead the New York front office. Both Rose and Wesley worked for CAA before joining the Knicks. Some have suggested that Rose and Wesley have shown a preference for acquiring CAA clients.

If Murray requested a trade to New York, Paul would work to make that happen. Outside of that, Paul has been reluctant to work with the Knicks under Rose and Wesley's leadership.

Knicks Waive Jaylen Martin From Two-Way Contract

Dec 23, 2023 10:53 AM

The New York Knicks have waived Jaylen Martin from his two-way contract. New York did this to create roster space to sign Dmytro Skapintsev to a two-way deal. Skapintsev was added to provide center depth, with Mitchell Robinson and Jericho Sims both injured.

Martin did not appear in an NBA game this season. The 6-foot-6 wing played in 16 games with the Westchester Knicks of the G League. Martin averaged 9.7 points and 2.9 rebounds for the G League Knicks.

Knicks, Dmytro Skapintsev Agree To Two-Way Contract

Dec 23, 2023 9:46 AM

The New York Knicks have agreed to a two-way contract with center Dmytro Skapintsev. New York was looking for additional center depth with both Mitchell Robinson and Jericho Sims out with injuries. They found it with Skapintsev, who has been with the Westchester Knicks of the G League this season.

The 7-foot-1 center has played in 55 games for the G League Knicks over the past two seasons. Skapintsev is averaging 5.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 18.6 minutes per game this season.

It was recently reported that New York applied for a Disabled Player Exception for Robinson. That would mean that the Knicks believe their starting center will miss the remainder of the season following ankle surgery. In addition to Robinson being out, Jericho Sims went down with a sprained ankle earlier in the week. That left New York with only Isaiah Hartenstein and the recently added Taj Gibson at the five.

Knicks Interested In Dejounte Murray, OG Anunoby

Dec 23, 2023 12:10 AM

The New York Knicks are interested in trading for Dejounte Murray and OG Anunoby, sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Murray will not be available in a trade until January 9 after signing a four-year, $120 million extension with the Hawks last offseason.

The Knicks also remain interested in Anunoby. The Knicks and Raptors briefly discussed a deal involving RJ Barrett last year, though nothing materialized.

The Knicks will also reportedly consider moving Immanuel Quickley in the right trade.

Immanuel Quickley Seeking $25M Per Season In Restricted Free Agency

Dec 22, 2023 9:56 PM

Immanuel Quickley is seeking a contract in the neighborhood of $25 million per year in restricted free agency, sources tell Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

Quickley and the New York Knicks were far apart on extension talks before the season, which led to some speculation that he could become a trade candidate.

But there has been virtually no chatter centered upon Quickley at this point in the season.

Quickley finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting last season.
