Kristaps Porzingis and the Washington Wizards are in serious talks on a contract extension, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.

As part of an extension, Porzingis would opt out of his $36 million player option for 23-24 to sign a long-term deal.

The Wizards can offer Porzingis up to $180 million over four years. 

Porziņģis has averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 blocks over 65 appearances this season. 

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal is under investigation by the Orlando Police Department after a confrontation with a fan. The incident occurred following the Wizards loss at the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, March 21.

As Beal and the Wizards were exiting through the visiting tunnel at the Amway Center, a fan approached Beal and reportedly yelled at him about a losing bet. The fan yelled, "You made me lose $1,300 you f---."

Beal is accused of swatting the hat off another fan's head, and making contact with the man's head while doing so. That fan then told Beal he didn't make the initial contact, before the two then reportedly got into a verbal confrontation.

As of Tuesday, March 28, no charges have been filed against Beal.

The Washington Wizards are signing Xavier Cooks through the 2023-24 season, reported Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Cooks, who is the MVP of Australia's National Basketball League, will join the Wizards following the NBL Finals this week.

The 27-year-old will become the fifth player from the NBL to join the NBA in the last five seasons. 

The Washington Wizards have agreed to sign Jamaree Bouyea to a 10-day contract. 

Bouyea appeared in four games earlier this season with the Miami Heat.

In 18 G League games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Bouyea is averaging 18.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists in 35.3 minutes. 

The Washington Wizards have agreed to sign Jay Huff to a Two-Way contract.

Huff was averaging 14.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26.2 minutes over 19 games this season with the South Bay Lakers of the G League.

Huff is represented by Michael Siegel.

The Washington Wizards have waived center Vernon Carey Jr.

Originally acquired from Charlotte during the 2021-22 season, Carey Jr. appeared in 11 games for the Wizards this season.
