Adelaide 36ers Seeking Compensation From Brooklyn For Mitch Creek

Aug 9, 2018 3:11 AM

The Adelaide 36ers of the Australian NBL have gone to court in Australia to stop Mitch Creek from signing with the Brooklyn Nets without compensation.

Creek had one year of a three-year deal left to run with the 36ers in the 2018-19 season but triggered his European/NBA out clause to join a top-level German club, Wurzberg. Wurzberg gave Creek its clearance but Adelaide claims it must get its approval as well.

"We are ensuring in the event that he gets a spot on the final roster that there is some sort of compensation (for Adelaide)," 36ers chief executive Ben Kavenagh told The Advertiser.

Former teammate Josh Childress has taken to social media pleading for the 36ers to come to their senses and allow Creek to follow his dream.

The Nets are looking at offering Creek a camp invite.

Nets, Knicks Expected To Pursue Kyrie Irving

Aug 1, 2018 11:51 AM

The Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks are widely expected to pursue Kyrie Irving in free agency next season.

Irving will be a free agent in 2019 as an extension with the Boston Celtics would represent far less than what he can make on the open market.

There have been no firm indications from Irving or his camp that he is seriously considering leaving the Celtics as some have speculated.
