Lonzo Ball Could Return At Some Point During 22-23 Season

Sep 29, 2022 11:56 AM

Lonzo Ball underwent surgery on his left knee on Wednesday and doctors believe they have successfully addressed the issue plaguing him since he suffered a torn meniscus last January.

There is confidence Ball will be able to return at some point this season despite the expectation he will miss several months.

Ball is entering Year 2 of a four-year, $85 million deal with the Bulls. Ball was a major part of Chicago's successful start to the 21-22 season.

Lonzo Ball 'Can't Run Or Jump' Due To Knee Pain, Says Missing Season Is 'Worst-Case Scenario'

Sep 27, 2022 10:54 PM

Lonzo Ball discussed his upcoming knee surgery on media day, saying that he still can't run or jump without feeling pain.

"There was a point where we would warm up and stuff, and I would go through certain days and it would be fine. Then whenever I got to real basketball activities, I just couldn't do it ... this will be my third surgery, so this time around I really don't want to rush anything," said Ball.

With the surgery set to take place on Wednesday, Ball is currently scheduled to be reevaluated in 4-6 weeks. There is currently no timetable on his return.

Ball added that while he was going to remain patient in letting his knee heal, he did not think he would miss the upcoming season.

"That's not in my mind right now, but that would be the worst-case scenario. I'm at a point now where I know I can't get back out there until I'm comfortable playing and can actually play. So whenever that day comes, that's when I'll have the jersey back on."
