Nuggets Speak With Michael Porter Jr. About COVID-19 Comments

Jul 29, 2020 9:10 PM

The Denver Nuggets have spoken with Michael Porter Jr. concerning comments he made about COVID-19.

"Personally, I think the coronavirus is being used obviously for a bigger agenda," Porter, 22, said on Snapchat. "It's being used for population control in just terms of being able to control the masses of people. I mean, because of the virus the whole world is being controlled."

"You're required to wear masks," Porter added. "And who knows what will happen when this vaccine comes out? You might have to have the vaccine in order to travel. Like, that would be crazy."

"Obviously, I'm not the thought police," Michael Malone said during a Zoom session with reporters. "I'm not going to tell any of our players what they can and can't say. All I would say is just be sensitive to the current situation in our country and throughout the world in regards to coronavirus.

"Michael Porter and any other player on our roster, they're entitled to their opinions and ability to have free speech, and I will respect that as long as it doesn't become a distraction. What Michael stated, being around our players this morning at breakfast and practice, has not become a distraction at all."

Nikola Jokic Unsure How Weight Loss Will Impact Game

Jul 15, 2020 11:58 AM

Nikola Jokic said he is not allowed to reveal his current playing weight due to team policy. Jokic has apparently lost a significant amount of weight during the suspension of the season.

During last season's playoffs, Jokic said he preferred playing at 275-280 poinds so he could be physical against big centers.

"Uh, yeah, I needed to say that because what you want me to say?" Jokic joked about his preferred playing weight. "It's an excuse for the weight, but... I'm joking."

Jokic isn't sure how his leaner frame will impact his game.

"What I am going to do?" Jokic said. "I don't know to be honest. I am just happy to be here, to finally come to Orlando to be with the team.

"Maybe I'm going to surprise everybody. Maybe I am not going to do good. So, we will see."
