The Los Angeles Clippers were aggressive in their pursuit of a Blake Griffin trade before settling on a deal with the Pistons.

"They offered him around to everybody," said Royce Young on The Hoop Collective podcast. 

"I don't know if that's true," replied Brian Windhorst.

"I mean I know they made calls to Oklahoma City for Paul George," Young said. "I'm pretty sure they made calls to Minnesota for players, so I mean, like, they tried to get some bigger name players. It just wasn't happening."

Griffin is from Oklahoma and had long been linked to the Thunder.

George will be a free agent in 2018 and was a Clippers' fan growing up outside Los Angeles.

Andre Drummond has been named by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace injured Washington Wizards guard John Wall on Team LeBron in the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 18.

Drummond earned his second All-Star selection, having previously represented the Pistons in the 2016 NBA All-Star Game. 

The 6-11 Drummond is averaging an NBA-leading and career-high 15.1 rebounds per game to go with 14.7 points, a career-high 3.8 assists, a career-high 1.54 steals and 1.37 blocked shots.  He already has more assists this season (176) than in his previous two seasons combined (157).  The six-year veteran has recorded an Eastern Conference-high 33 double-doubles in 46 games.

The Los Angeles Lakers were not interested in Blake Griffin prior to the Clippers' trade of him to the Pistons.

The Lakers could have used Brook Lopez's $22 million expiring contract to match salaries.

The Lakers don't own their 2018 first round draft pick and also aspire to have two max contract slots to offer in free agency.

Griffin had been linked to the Lakers heading into his free agency, but he quickly re-signed with the Clippers.

The Clippers have agreed to trade Blake Griffin and Willie Reed to the Pistons for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic a first round pick and a second round pick.

The Clippers will receive Detroit's 2018 first round pick if it is outside of the top-4. The top-4 protection also applies in 2019 and 2020 while becoming unprotected in 2021.

Griffin is in the first year of a five-year deal worth $173 million. 

The Detroit Pistons are shopping Avery Bradley in trade talks leading to the deadline.

Even though Bradley will become a free agent this offseason, the Pistons have had a significant asking price for him.

Bradley could command a salary in the $20 million annual range in free agency.

Bradley's play has declined this season as he's been dealing with a groin injury. Bradley is averaging 15.0 points per game and is shooting just 40.9 percent from the floor, down from 16.3 points and 46.3 percent a year ago with Boston. 

The Detroit Pistons have signed guard Reggie Hearn to two-way contract. 

Hearn, 6-5, 210, has played in 14 games (10 starts) with the Reno Bighorns of the NBA G League this season and averaged 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 30.7 minutes per game.

The former Northwestern University product has played in 175 NBA G League games with the Idaho Stampede, Westchester Knicks and Bighorns averaging 10.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 26.7 minutes per game.

The Detroit Pistons have agreed to sign Kay Felder to a two-way contract.

Felder was a second round pick by the Cavaliers in 2016 and was traded to the Bulls before the start of the season.

Felder is a native of Detroit.

The Pistons have a need for depth at point guard.

The Detroit Pistons have converted Dwight Buycks to a standard contract from his two-way.

Buycks has performed well as the backup to Ish Smith since Reggie Jackson suffered a sprained ankle.

For the season, Buycks is averaging 8.8 points and 2.4 in eight games.

Detroit can sign another two-way player before Monday's deadline.

The Detroit Pistons have discussed a trade involving Stanley Johnson with rival teams.

The Pistons have been one of the NBA's most active teams in trade talks.

Teams have inquired about the availability of Luke Kennard, but the Pistons are not interested in moving their 2017 first round pick.

Johnson was selected eighth overall in 2015.

The Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz and Portland Trail Blazers have interest in Nikola Mirotic.

Mirotic continues to prefer a trade from the Chicago Bulls due to his preseason fight with Bobby Portis.

The Bulls are seeking a first round pick for Mirotic.
