Warriors Unlikely To Make Major Deal Ahead Of Trade Deadline

Jan 31, 2024 1:39 PM

The Golden State Warriors consider it unlikely they will make a major trade ahead of the deadline, sources tell Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

The Warriors remain motivated to win this season, but some believe their chances of competing for a title are remote considering their current level of play and spot in the standings outside the playoffs.

The Warriors' interest in Dejounte Murray is described as "tepid at best."

Golden State has a greater need and desire to upgrade on the wing or at center. Lauri Markkanen is a player who would fit that mold, but he is not believed to be truly available and there are rival teams who could probably beat their offer.

Andrew Wiggins is the most likely player on the Warriors to be moved as he's in Year 1 of a four-year, $109 million deal. They have discussed player-for-player offers and they wouldn't have to attach a draft pick to get off his salary. Wiggins has played better of late, especially alongside Jonathan Kuminga and Draymond Green.

Warriors Open To Trading Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins

Jan 30, 2024 8:53 AM

The Golden State Warriors have slipped to 12th in the Western Conference standings. That has the Warriors considering their options ahead of the trade deadline.

Golden State is going to take calls on veterans Chris Paul and Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors could even consider trading Klay Thompson.

At this point, the only player the Warriors appear to consider untouchable is Stephen Curry. The team is also very high on Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski, and would rather not trade either young player.

The referees missed Draymond Green's offensive foul on Jarred Vanderbilt that set Steph Curry free for a go-ahead 3-pointers in double overtime against the Los Angeles Lakers, according to the league's Last Two Minute Report.

The Warriors lost the game 145-144 after LeBron James was fouled on the next possession and made two free throws.

Warriors Upset With Officiating After Loss To Lakers

Jan 28, 2024 10:46 AM

The Golden State Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in double overtime on Saturday night. After the game, both Warriors coach Stever Kerr and star guard Stephen Curry thought officiating played a hand in the loss.

“I might comment on the free throws, but my mom is here, so I want to be on my best behavior. So, I’m not going to comment on their 43 free throws to our 16. I’m not going to comment on Steph shooting three free throws in 43 minutes," Kerr said.

Curry echoed his coach's comments when asked about the free throw disparity. Curry called out the inconsistencies in the calls the Lakers were getting, as opposed to the ones the Warriors got.
