Bucks, Pacers Have Held Victor Oladipo Trade Talks

Oct 28, 2020 11:12 PM

The Indiana Pacers have discussed a potential Victor Oladipo trade with the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

At this point, a deal between the Pacers and Bucks seems unlikely.

Oladipo has one season remaining on his current contract with the Pacers.

Milwaukee is expected to be aggressive this offseason in improving its roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Victor Oladipo Would Like To Stay With Pacers, No. 1 Alternative Likely Heat

Oct 28, 2020 10:48 AM

Victor Oladipo would be happy to sign a contract extension with the Indiana Pacers if they could agree to terms, but a source says joining the Miami Heat would be No. 1 on his list should he leave as a free agent in 2021.

The level of interest from the Heat depends on how Oladipo returns from his injury and also the team's ability to sign a superstar free agent such as Giannis Antetokounmpo. Oladipo lives in Miami in the offseason.

The Pacers could explore trading Oladipo before he hits free agency, but it is doubtful the Heat would sacrifice significant assets in a trade for him at this point.

Oladipo suffered a ruptured quad tendon in January 2019.

Pacers Offered Four-Year, $80M Extension To Victor Oladipo Before 19-20 Season

Oct 22, 2020 1:52 PM

The Indiana Pacers and Victor Oladipo discussed an extension before the start of the 19-20 season.

Sources tell Ian Begley of SNY.tv that a four-year, $80 million extension was broached but talks didn't progress much from there.

Oladipo signed a four-year, $84 million extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016 prior to becoming an All-Star, but before a significant quad injury.

Many teams across the league believe Oladipo could become available in a trade over the coming months.

Pacers Interested In Trade For Gordon Hayward

The Indiana Pacers have interest in trading for Gordon Hayward of the Boston Celtics, sources tell Ian Begley of SNY.tv.

Hayward is expected to exercise his player option for the 20-21 season worth $34.2 million and become a free agent again in 2021.

Hayward is from Indiana and played collegiately at Butler.

The Pacers have an expensive core of Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner, which some have speculated they may break up via trade.

Victor Oladipo Could Be Targeted By Bucks

Oct 20, 2020 5:32 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks allowed Malcolm Brogdon to join the Indiana Pacers last offseason in a sign-and-trade, but could potentially replace him this offseason with Victor Oladipo.

Oladipo has one season remaining on his contract with the Pacers and has an uncertain future, while the Bucks are expected to be active in trade talks to upgrade their roster ahead of Giannis Antetokounmpo's supermax decision this year, or perhaps free agent decision in 2021.

"I'll give you a team I'm keeping an eye on with Victor Oladipo," said Zach Lowe on his podcast. "Milwaukee. Just keeping my eye on them. That's all I'm going to say. I'm keeping my eye on them.

Oladipo was an All-Star in his first two seasons with the Pacers, but was uneven in 19-20 as he worked his way back from a ruptured quad tendon suffered in January 2019.

Victor Oladipo's Value Not As High As 'Name Brand Would Suggest'

Oct 20, 2020 7:50 AM

Victor Oladipo has one season remaining on his contract with the Indiana Pacers and his future remains uncertain as he continues to work on getting back to his All-Star form prior to a ruptured quad tendon in January 2019.

Because of the injury and his status as a pending free agent, it might be difficult for the Pacers to be incentivized enough to consider trading him.

"I think it's unlikely Oladipo gets traded because of how weird his past year has been," said Tim Bontemps on The Hoop Collective Podcast. "Both coming back from the injury, and frankly, not being very good after coming back from the injury.

"From talking to people around the league, I don't think his value is nearly as high as his name brand would suggest at the moment. And I think it's more likely that the Pacers go into the season and either hope he plays really well and they do great and he decides to stay. Or that he plays better and they maybe trade him later, when his value goes up soon."
