Mamadi Diakite Out With Left Hip Fracture

Oct 14, 2021 9:00 AM

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced that Mamadi Diakite suffered a left hip facture. Diakite was injured after taking a hard fall against his former team, the Milwaukee Bucks, on October 10. Oklahoma City said there is no timetable for his return at this time.

The Thunder acquired Diakite off waivers from the Bucks in late-September. He was part of a large group of players competing for roster spots at the end of the Oklahoma City bench. This injury may take Diakite out of the mix to make the Thunder's roster.

Diakite's contract was guaranteed for just $100,000. As he was injured playing for the team, he'll likely receive his full salary of $1.5 million. The Thunder are below the salary floor and should have no issue guaranteeing Diakite's contract.
