Suns Clinch Pacific Division

Mar 21, 2007 4:44 AM

The Phoenix Suns are back on the winning end of a blowout and have a third consecutive Pacific Division title to show for it.

Raja Bell scored 16 of his 22 points in the decisive third quarter and the Suns regrouped from two one-sided losses to clinch the division crown with a 108-90 victory over Minnesota on Tuesday night.

Leandro Barbosa, inserted into the starting lineup to try to rev up the stuttering Suns' offense, added 20 points. Steve Nash had 18 points -- including 4-of-5 3-pointers -- and 11 assists.

"That means we've had a good regular season and we've positioned ourselves well for the playoffs," Bell said, "but the ultimate goal is winning a championship. We understand we've got some work to do."

Rose Gets Second Chance In Rotation

Mar 20, 2007 6:01 AM

Jalen Rose is getting another chance. Rose, buried on the bench for 38 games after arriving in Phoenix in November, will be an option again after coming up with eight points in six minutes during the Suns? debacle Saturday at Denver, Suns coach Mike D?Antoni said.

Rose got only a brief tryout after he was waived by the New York Knicks and picked up by the Suns, evidently because D?Antoni deemed Rose too slow for Phoenix?s high-octane offense.

Even now, he cautions that moves such as re-inserting Rose ?are like side dishes. Our main group has to play well.?

Rose, 34, also took a low-key approach to his inclusion in the rotation.

?I will be a versatile player as I have been for 13 years and I?ll try to do what I can to contribute.?

?We have a great team. We have three All-Stars. I?m here to supplement that.?

Amare Two Technicals Away From Suspension

Mar 9, 2007 5:40 AM

Amar? Stoudemire says he does not swear at officials. He hardly has seemed demonstrative in picking up 14 technical fouls this season, second only to Rasheed Wallace's 17.

But Stoudemire has been out of line just enough to put him in a precarious spot. Starting with a 16th technical, Stoudemire would be suspended one game for every two technical fouls until he gets a clean slate for the postseason.

"They're not the normal techs that guys get for using profanity," Stoudemire said. "It's real small-time techs. I got a technical foul for just rolling the ball. I got one just for a hand gesture. They're not techs that are too aggressive."

"I've got to do a better job of holding my emotions back. I'm such an emotional player that my passion comes out at times. It's going to be tough, but I can manage."

Diaw Says He's Ready To Play Wednesday

Mar 6, 2007 10:35 PM

Boris Diaw is expected back in the Phoenix starting lineup Wednesday night when the Suns play the Bobcats.

The versatile, 6-foot-8 Frenchman has missed nine games because of back spasms but practiced on Tuesday and pronounced himself ready to return.

"I'm ready to go," he said. "I've been waiting for a month now. I had a little pain, but it's the kind of pain I can play through."
