Kevin Durant On Tribute Video: We Didn't Accomplish Anything Worth Being Celebrated For

Jan 29, 2024 3:04 PM

Kevin Durant elaborated on why he believes the Brooklyn Nets shouldn't show a tribute video for him in his first return game to Barclays Center.

“What did I do to deserve that?” Durant said about a tribute video after Sunday’s loss at Orlando.

“Seriously, or is it because of my name? I’m just another player, man. I don’t deserve none of this extra attention, everybody looking at me when the game starts. The game is about all the players on the court. It ain’t about me. I was there for three years, four years and we didn’t accomplish anything worth being celebrated for. That’s just how I feel.”

Durant and the Phoenix Suns will play the Nets on Wednesday.

“I don’t expect anything from anybody,” Durant said. “I just want people to come and enjoy the game and come support the game of basketball. Whatever they do in between the time, then they do it, but I can’t control that.”

Suns, Pistons, Jazz Interested In Trading For Miles Bridges

Jan 26, 2024 9:57 AM

The Phoenix Suns have interest in trading for Miles Bridges of the Charlotte Hornets, reports Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. Bridges is one of up to 10 players that the Suns have interest in ahead of the February 8 trade deadline.

Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reports that the Utah Jazz and Detroit Pistons are also interested in trading for Bridges.

Bridges has a no-trade clause for this season, because he will lose his Bird Rights if he's traded. This is because Bridges is on a one-year deal with Bird Rights following this season. Because he'll be looking for a bigger contract than his Non-Bird Rights would allow for, Bridges would be considered a rest-of-season rental by Phoenix.

The Suns are also aware that Bridges has off-court issues that need to be handled. He has a pending court date for next month for allegedly violating a protection order stemming from the same domestic violence incident in 2022 that saw him receive a 30-game suspension from the NBA.

Another challenge in trading for Bridges is that the Hornets reportedly are looking for draft picks in any deal. Phoenix is limited in what they can trade, due to having traded several picks in deals to acquire Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in the last year.

P.J. Tucker Could Receive Interest From Suns, Bucks If Traded And Bought Out

Jan 17, 2024 5:03 PM

P.J. Tucker has fallen out of the Los Angeles Clippers' rotation and could be a candidate for trade and then buyout.

The Washington Wizards could trade for Tucker with the intent of buying him out.

If Tucker is bought out, the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks are two teams who could pursue him. Tucker is eligible to go to any team after a buyout because his salary is below the non-taxpayer mid level exception.

Tucker signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Sixers during the 2022 offseason.

Kevin Durant Appreciates Years With James Harden, Russell Westbrook

Jan 9, 2024 8:46 AM

Kevin Durant was asked about his history with James Harden and Russell Westbrook, following the Phoenix Suns loss at the LA Clippers on Monday night. Durant admitted to being frustrated with how things ended with James Harden when they were teammates on the Brooklyn Nets. However, Durant holds no ill-will to his two-time former teammate.

“No doubt that I was pissed about the situation. I'm sure he was pissed about having to move teams again. When the smoke clears, you realize that's somebody you came into the league with, somebody I really, really love as a brother," Durant said about Harden. "I want what's best for him and his family going forward.”

As for playing with Harden and Westbrook, Durant appreciates his time with both on the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also made note of how remarkable it is that all three of them are still going in the NBA careers.

“We’re never gonna forget those moments we shared coming into the league," Durant said. "It was a special, special time that I always pull back from. I always loved playing with those guys so it’s good to see them have some success and still be in the league at 15, 16, 17 years in the league.”
