Joe Harris Will Receive Significant Interest Beyond Nets

Oct 20, 2020 5:27 PM

Joe Harris will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason at the age of 29 after shooting better than 40 percent on three-pointers in each of the past three seasons.

The Brooklyn Nets would like to re-sign Harris, but they will receive significant competition from other teams.

"I have news for the Nets," said Zach Lowe on his podcast. "They're going to have competition for Joe Harris. These teams with cap room all view Joe as a potential very good fit on the floor and a good culture guy."

Davis Bertans will also be a coveted free agent

"I think Harris may have even more of an market because teams trust their defense more. He's more sort of positionally fluid on defense. I think the Nets are going to have to pay like $15 million per year to keep Joe Harris."

Nets, Pelicans Discussed Jrue Holiday Trade At Deadline

Oct 20, 2020 7:55 AM

The Brooklyn Nets and New Orleans Pelicans held talks before the 2020 deadline centered on Jrue Holiday.

Holiday is commonly viewed as a player who would fit perfectly with Kevin Durant and Jrue Holiday due to his ability to play off the ball and his ability on defense while matching Brooklyn's timeline of contention.

"That certainly is something that's been out there and I think it has been reported. If it hasn't been reported, I found out somewhere, I don't think it was from an executive, maybe it was, there was some discussions between the Nets and Pelicans in February."

Holiday can become a free agent in 2021.

Spencer Dinwiddie Sees Himself As 'The Draymond Green, The Glue' Of Nets

Oct 17, 2020 2:30 PM

Spencer Dinwiddie said he sees himself in the "Draymond Green" role alongside Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant next season.

“Obviously, we don’t know who’s going to start, who’s coming off the bench. That’s with KD and Kyrie excluded, of course. But really with all of this being formed, I view myself if we’re going with the Golden State model as the Draymond Green, the glue.

"Sometimes, I get 10 boards, sometimes, I get 10 assists. Sometimes, I score a little bit more because obviously, we have a super dynamic point guard," said Dinwiddie on ESPN's The Jump (h/t Nets Daily).

The 27-year-old averaged 20.6 points and 6.8 assists last season.

Dinwiddie added that he wants to emulate the late-blooming career path of new coach Steve Nash.

"His basketball acumen is second to none. Multi-time MVP, one of the greatest point guards of all time, somebody that you can learn a ton from. And being in the position that I’m in, he also had the kind of career where he played some of his best basketball late. So, just a career-arc and career path that I would love to follow. So it’s a match made in heaven for me."

Kyrie Irving: I Don't Really See Nets As Having A Head Coach

Oct 1, 2020 5:02 PM

While Steve Nash was hired by the Brooklyn Nets as head coach, Kyrie Irving expects it to be more of a title than an actual role.

"I don't really see us having a head coach," Irving said on Durant's new podcast, "The Etcs." "KD could be a head coach, I could be a head coach [some days]."

Durant followed up by agreeing with Irving, calling it a "collaborative effort" and naming assistant and former interim head coach Jacque Vaughn as someone that could fill the role any given day.

Irving said on the podcast he doesn't know Nash that well, but is looking forward to working with him.

"Steve is great, and I have a relationship with him that's going to build over time, bro," Irving said. "Steve don't know me from anything he heard or he's heard someone else. We've worked out one time in 2014, but it's grown as just a respectful relationship from afar. I saw him at the Hall of Fame two years ago, gave him a big hug and now he's the head coach. And I think it's also going to change the way we see coaches."

Durant has rocked with Nash more closely during their time together with the Golden State Warriors.

"I think having Steve there and collaborating with our floor general every day is only gonna yield good results for our scorers like myself and Taurean [Prince], Caris [LaVert] and Spencer [Dinwiddie]," Durant said. "Them having that relationship I think is gonna be key for us going forward."
