Isaiah Stewart Suspended Two Games, LeBron James Gets One

Nov 22, 2021 6:14 PM

Isaiah Stewart has been suspended two games without pay for escalating an on-court altercation by repeatedly and aggressively pursuing LeBron James in an unsportsmanlike manner, and James has been suspended one game without pay for recklessly hitting Stewart in the face and initiating an on-court altercation.

Stewart was assessed two technical fouls, James was assessed a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2, and both players were ejected. The incident began with a loose ball foul on Stewart with 9:18 remaining in the third quarter of the Pistons’ 121-116 loss to the Lakers on Nov. 21 at Little Caesars Arena.

Stewart will serve his suspensions Tuesday, Nov. 23 when the Pistons host the Miami Heat at Little Caesars Arena and Wednesday, Nov. 24 when Detroit faces the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum. James will serve his suspension Tuesday, Nov. 23 when the Lakers visit the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

Dwane Casey Says Isaiah Stewart Should Face No Further Punishment

Nov 22, 2021 9:10 AM

After Isaiah Stewart was hit in the face by LeBron James on Sunday night, he attempted to go after James and other Lakers several times. There were also worries that Stewart would attempt to re-enter the arena through the back hallway.

For his part, Detroit Pistons head coach Dwane Casey doesn't think Stewart should face any further punishment for his actions.

"He shouldn't be facing anything. Not getting off the court in time, that's a small thing," Casey said. "I don't see any ramifications from that standpoint, except from just not leaving the court in time, maybe. I thought that's why he got ejected from the game, so to me, that's enough punishment."

James was ejected for a Flagrant Foul 2 for hitting Stewart in the face. Stewart was ejected for escalating things on the court. Any further league discipline, including fines and suspensions, could be handed out on Monday.

LeBron James Bloodies Isaiah Stewart's Face, Both Players Ejected

Nov 21, 2021 9:03 PM

LeBron James and Isaiah Stewart were ejected from Sunday's 121-116 win by the Los Angeles Lakers over the Detroit Pistons.

James struck Stewart in the face while battling for rebounding position on a free throw. Stewart had his face bloodied by the shot and had to be held back multiple times by teammates and personnel.

James had only been ejected one previous time in his career, which came in 2017.

“Everyone in the league knows that [LeBron] isn’t a dirty guy," said Anthony Davis. "As soon as he did it, he looked back and told him, ‘My bad. I didn’t try to do it.’ I don’t know what [Isaiah Stewart] was trying to do. Nobody on our team, 1-15, was having it."

76ers Not Interested In Jerami Grant

Nov 21, 2021 8:04 AM

The Philadelphia 76ers do not have Jerami Grant on their list of approximately 30 players they would trade Ben Simmons for across the league.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported this week that the 76ers have had discussions with the Detroit Pistons on Grant, outsources say those talks are old and were of little interest to the team.

Grant represents a positional overall with Tobias Harris and is not enough of a difference maker for what they seek.

Sixers Interested In Jerami Grant, James Harden For Ben Simmons

Nov 19, 2021 8:58 AM

The Philadelphia 76ers reportedly have a wide list of targets they'd consider in a trade for Ben Simmons. That list includes a couple of old friends of those in power in Philadelphia.

A year after the Sixers tried to trade Simmons to the Houston Rockets for James Harden, the team is considering making another run at the star guard. Harden, a Daryl Morey favorite, did not sign a contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets. That has some in the 76ers organization wondering if a package built around Simmons could entice Sean Marks and the Nets to make a deal.

Another target is former Philadelphia forward Jerami Grant. The Sixers have held talks with the Detroit Pistons that were built around a Simmons for Grant swap. Grant started his career with the 76ers before being traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016.

Pistons Interested In Marvin Bagley III

Nov 12, 2021 3:29 PM

The Detroit Pistons could have interest in trading for Marvin Bagley III.

Bagley has sought a trade from the Sacramento Kings for nearly a year and will be a restricted free agent in 2022.

The Pistons have been tracking Bagley since last season, who isn't in Sacramento's rotation. Most recently, Bagley refused to check into Monday's game.

Bagley's agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports, blasted the Kings in October for what Schwartz described as a "case study in mismanagement" of his client.

Cade Cunningham Out On Back-To-Backs For Now

Nov 1, 2021 9:07 AM

2021 number one overall pick Cade Cunningham recently made his NBA debut. However, it will be a little while longer before Cunningham plays in back-to-back games for the Detroit Pistons.

Pistons coach Dwane Casey said, "That was the original plan. Coming off a back-to-back after not playing for a month, that was the prudent thing to do."

Cunningham missed approximately one month of practices and games after suffering a sprained ankle. Casey thought Cunningham looked rusty in his debut game against the Orlando Magic. However, the Pistons coach was happy with Cunningham's overall process.

Casey said that Cunningham sitting out on back-to-backs is the "short-term plan".
