McGrady Has Successful Knee Surgery

Feb 25, 2009 9:59 AM

Rockets star Tracy McGrady had successful microfracture surgery on his left knee Tuesday.

The arthroscope confirmed that the ligaments and other cartilage in the knee were in good shape.

Houston coach Rick Adelman reacted to McGrady's apology for the way he handled the surgery announcement.

"He was probably caught up in getting evaluations and deciding on surgery," Adelman said. "It built up during the week that I was blasting him. I don't remember doing that. I just said there should have been a better way to do that. I think he probably realized that after the fact."

Alston Thrilled About Trade To Orlando

Feb 21, 2009 9:28 AM

Rafer Alston was initially shocked about the last-minute deal that sent him from the Rockets to the Magic, but he's excited about landing with a contender.

"To go to a contender, I had a smile from cheek to cheek, from ear to ear when they told me I was coming to Orlando," Alston said on Friday night.

Alston will try to fill the gap left behind by All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson, who is out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury.

"Trust me, I understand having to fill the gap for an All-Star caliber point guard. He was having a phenomenal year," Alston said.

Magic Land Alston In Three-Way Trade

Feb 19, 2009 8:21 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies acquired from the Orlando Magic their 2009 unprotected first round draft pick, guard Mike Wilks, center Adonal Foyle and cash considerations and sent guard Kyle Lowry to the Houston Rockets as part of a three-team trade, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.  As part of the trade, Orlando will receive guard Rafer Alston from Houston in exchange for forward Brian Cook.

?It was difficult to part with Kyle Lowry,? Wallace said. ?He has been an important part of our team the last three seasons.  With the emergence of Mike Conley, we decided that the acquisition of Orlando?s unprotected first round pick was a good move to make.  We now will enter the upcoming draft with two first round selections and three picks overall, likely inside the first 37 picks.?

McGrady: I'm Done; Rockets Not So Sure

Feb 19, 2009 9:35 AM

Rockets general manager Daryl Morey claims that no final decision has been made regarding whether or not Tracy McGrady will have a season-ending operation on his left knee.

"We're still waiting on second opinions, and then we're going to decide which direction we're going to go," Morey said Wednesday. "That was the plan originally, and that's still the plan. I just talked to his agent (Arn Tellem).

"Tracy hasn't seen the doctor who would likely perform whatever procedure he ends up doing. The decision on the next step is still to be determined. Obviously, the most important person in the decision is Tracy. We think it's best he hears all options before deciding on the final course of action."
