Paul George acknowledged he needs to be the Indiana Pacers' leader as they continue to evolve their roster and playing style.

“I think I’m still young,” George said before his practice with the U.S. men’s Olympic team. “I can carry a team, I feel.”

The Pacers have been aggressive this offseason, acquiring Jeff Teague, Thaddeus Young and Al Jefferson.

“I’m glad he’s not letting me waste years,” he said of Bird. “I think Larry (Bird) and (the rest of the front office) have expressed how bad they want to get back to (the Eastern Conference finals) by these moves this offseason. I’m looking forward to getting us back there. He’s putting talent around me to help me get to what we all want to get accomplish, and that’s a championship.”

George is ready for the next challenge in his career.

“I’ve been molded all the way up to this point with having great veterans and great guys around me,” he said. “Now, it’s my solo opportunity of really being the leader and really being the locker room voice. I’m really looking forward to it; this is my chance and I’m going to make the heck out of it.

“Like I always say, it’s on me now.”

Aaron Brooks has agreed upon a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Indiana Pacers.

Brooks played for the Chicago Bulls over the past two seasons.

Brooks averaged 7.1 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 16.1 minutes per game in 15-16 for the Bulls.

The Indiana Pacers have agreed to acquire Jeremy Evans and cash considerations from the Dallas Mavericks.

Evans gives the Pacers an additional bench option on the wing.

Lance Stephenson and the Indiana Pacers are discussing a multi-year deal.

Stephenson is an unrestricted free agent after the Memphis Grizzlies declined their team option. Stephenson signed a three-year, $27 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets in 2014 and was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2015. The Grizzlies acquired Stephenson at the trade deadline from the Clippers for a future first round pick.

“That’s home for him,” the source said of what Indianapolis means to Stephenson. “He absolutely loves the town and the organization.”

The Washington Wizards have agreed to sign Ian Mahinmi to a four-year, $64 million deal.

Washington was also in on a pursuit of Al Horford and shifted to Mahinmi as soon as he agreed to sign with the Boston Celtics.

Mahinmi had a career season in his final year with the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers previously signed Al Jefferson this offseason while also trading for Thaddeus Young.

The Indiana Pacers and Sacramento Kings have recently held discussions centered on a Rudy Gay trade.

Sacramento still has interest in Monta Ellis, who the team targeted in free agency last offseason. Indiana would prefer to trade away Rodney Stuckey in a deal for Gay.

The Kings traded for Gay in December of 2013 and then extended him on a new deal.

Ian Mahinmi will not return to the Indiana Pacers after they've acquired Thaddeus Young via trade and signed Al Jefferson.

Mahinmi had a breakout season for the Pacers and is receiving interest from the Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets, Dallas Mavericks, Portland Trail Blazers and Orlando Magic.

Mahinmi will turn 30 at the start of the upcoming season.

The San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls have expressed interest in Jordan Hill.

Hill spent last season with the Indiana Pacers after three seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Hill turns 29 later this summer.

The New Orleans Pelicans have reached a verbal agreement on a four-year, $52 million deal with Solomon Hill.

The Indiana Pacers declined their fourth-year option on Hill in what has become a controversial decision.

Hill emerged this past season as a versatile forward.

The Indiana Pacers and Al Jefferson have agreed upon a three-year, $30 million deal.

Jefferson signed a three-year, $41 million deal with the Hornets in 2013.

The Pacers have wanted to play faster over the past two offseasons.
