Darrell Arthur is expected to make his regular season debut on Friday.
Arthur had spent eight months rehabbing from an Achilles injury, but suffered a leg fracture in September.
"We need him," Zach Randolph said. "He's an energy guy. He picks up full-court (defense). He's good in pick-and-pops. He's big for us and people have to respect him."
The Grizzlies have one of the NBA's best frontcourt duos in Randolph and Marc Gasol, but they can certainly use the depth Arthur provides.
Arthur was unable to walk for two months following the Achilles injury.
Zach Randolph was fined $25,000 by the NBA for confronting Kendrick Perkins near the Thunder locker room last week.
"Nah, I didn’t go in their locker room," said Randolph. "It was some doors; I had went on their side. Their locker room was like right there to the left. But I had went through some doors in the hallway. And I went through the doors. But it was a lesson learned. It won’t happen again. I ain’t gonna lose no $25,000 again. I’m done with all that bluffing on the court, because them guys do a lot of bluffing. I’m from the bluff city. We don’t do no bluffing, man."
Randolph was also asked by ESPN Radio how many fights he has been in.
"You know what, I’m going to say about 30, 28-2 or 28-4. I’m going to tell you this, because I used to fight the older guys. You know, I used to fight older guys. You know, the older guys got to chastise you and make sure you ain’t backing down. So me or my brother, we never backed down so we used to have to fight older guys."
Zach Randolph has received a $25,000 fine for his confrontation with Kendrick Perkins last week.
Randolph and Perkins were each ejected from the game and had an altercation in the locker room area.
Kendrick Perkins and Zach Randolph were ejected from the Memphis Grizzlies' 107-97 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.
Perkins and Randolph had their altercation resume into the locker room area, according to multiple eyewitnesses.
Perkins and Randolph engaged in incessant jawing during a stoppage late in the fourth quarter and were ejected.
As the two were being separated, Randolph, using a closed fist and a thumb, motioned in the direction of the locker room to Perkins.
Other players downplayed the incident that was seen on the court.

Robert Pera and his group of owners used $175 million in financing to purchase the Memphis Grizzlies last month.
The Pera-led group closed on the $377 million purchase of the franchise from Michael Heisley. A source told The Commercial Appeal Monday night that the group used $125 million available to NBA teams through the league's credit facility and another $50 million in bank financing to close the deal.
"There is nothing unusual about the financing to acquire the Grizzlies," said Rob Friedrich, a vice president of the NBA and the league's general counsel. "It is standard in the context of team acquisitions and fully compliant with the NBA's debt policies. The financial wherewithal of Robert Pera and this ownership group is very strong and the team remains on a very solid financial footing."
Nineteen of the league's 30 teams use the league's $2.3 billion credit facility.
The owners must pay interest on the money, but never had to address the principal.
Franchises are also allowed up to $50 million in financing provided outside of the NBA's facility.
Sources told The Commercial Appeal last month that Pera will own less than 50 percent of the franchise. There are 24 people or entities listed as partners.
New Memphis Grizzlies' owner Robert Pera wants to use advanced analytics to evaluate players.

The Memphis Grizzlies have hired Jason Levien to become the team's new CEO and managing partner.
Robert Pera's purchase of the Grizzlies was approved by the NBA's board of governors last month.

Levien will have ultimate say on personnel and on-court matters and will oversee current general manager Chris Wallace.
Sources ay Levien took a lead role in recruiting minority owners of the Grizzlies such as Justin Timberlake and Peyton Manning.
The Philadelphia 76ers have hired Aaron Barzilai as their director of analytics.
Barzilai is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and had previously been a quantitative analyst for the Memphis Grizzlies and also founded BasketballValue.com.

The 76ers hired more of a traditional general manager in Tony DiLeo.
