Redd's Injured Knee Not Healthy Enough To Play

Nov 29, 2009 11:00 AM

Bucks guard Michael Redd didn't play on Saturday night after not feeling right in the team's previous game.

Redd told Milwaukee's trainer following Friday night's loss to Oklahoma City that his troublesome left knee wasn't feeling right.

He suffered a left patella tendon strain four weeks ago and only recently returned.

"When you play in game motion, you really find out if you're ready or not," Redd said Saturday. "Explosion is not there yet, and it's obvious. Just not finishing, not getting above the rim.

"I noticed it last night and I was able to tell the trainers, 'We need to get this right before I get back.' We're going to work towards it. Let's get it stronger and get it right."

Defenses Focused On Stopping Jennings

Nov 25, 2009 4:10 PM

Bucks rookie guard Brandon Jennings has gained national attention for his scoring ability.

In turn, opposing teams are starting to focus more on stopping Jennings, who is averaging 24.2 points, 5.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds this season.

"A lot of teams are starting to trap a lot, and teams are starting to be more physical," Jennings said. "They're not leaving me on pick-and-roll situations; a lot of the big guys are staying with me."

Milwaukee teammate Charlie Bell wasn't quite as technical about how San Antonio handled Jennings on Monday night.

"They beat him up tonight, and they made him work on offense. On our five-out play with Brandon coming off a side-ball screen, he's been able to make shots," Bell said.

"They did a great job of containing it and made every shot he took a tough one. They're a veteran team and they know what they're doing."

Redd Coming Off Bench In Return

Nov 23, 2009 3:42 PM

Bucks guard Michael Redd will return in Monday night's game against the Spurs.

Redd has missed Milwaukee's last nine games with a left patella tendon strain.

"We'll bring him off the bench tonight and probably not play a lot of minutes or anything. Just get his feet back under him in a game and see how it goes," coach Scott Skiles said Monday.

Skiles added that he won't place a strict number limit on Redd, but added, "He's been out quite a while so more than likely he won't play heavy minutes."

Redd is averaging just 13 points on 32% shooting in two games this season.

Bucks Nearly Didn't End Up With Jennings

Nov 19, 2009 11:03 AM

Brandon Jennings' camp expected the rookie point guard sensation to be drafted seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors, but they instead went with Stephen Curry after Minnesota surprisingly took two point guards.

Milwaukee had also discussed trading the 10th overall pick to Memphis in a deal for Mike Conley, as well as with Washington for the fifth overall selection.

The Bucks, of course, ultimately held onto the 10th overall pick and selected Jennings.

Alexander Wants Trade Out Of Milwaukee

Nov 19, 2009 10:48 AM

Since the Bucks declined Joe Alexander's option for the 2010-11 season, he would welcome a trade out of Milwaukee.

"They made it pretty clear that they don't see me having a future here,'' said Alexander, the No. 8 pick in the 2008 draft. "So I'm assuming a trade would definitely be one of the options.''

Alexander then was asked if he would welcome a trade.

"I mean, yeah," he said. "If they don't want me, if they don't see a future with me here, that really is the only other option."

John Hammon said "absolutely" there's a chance he could be re-signed for next season.

"We're hoping that once he becomes healthy he can help our team," Hammond said of this season. "His job is to help us win games. And we hope he is capable of doing that."

Redd May Return To Practice For Bucks

Nov 17, 2009 8:00 AM

It's possible that Bucks guard Michael Redd could practice with his teammates on Tuesday.

He has been out since straining his left patella tendon on Oct. 31.

"He's been turning up his running," Milwaukee coach Scott Skiles said. "We'll see what (trainer) Marc (Boff) says in the morning, but maybe do some of the non-contact stuff and maybe Thursday do a little contact. I don't know."

Redd had said that he hoped to play in a game before the team's current home stand ended, but Skiles isn't sure if that's possible.

"I don't know if that's realistic," Skiles said.

The Bucks conclude their home stand against the Bobcats on Friday night.
