Skiles: Bucks Need More Energy

Feb 24, 2009 6:36 PM

Bucks coach Scott Skiles was happy to escape a close game against the Nuggets on Sunday, but believes his team needs to play with more energy.

"It does happen during the season," Skiles said when asked about an energy shortage. "We're just trying to impress on the guys that we can't afford that. We've shown that when we have energy and we know what we're doing out there, we're a pretty good club."

Milwaukee has been a good rebounding team this season, but was dominated on the glass against Denver.

"That's one of our signs (of low energy)," said Skiles. "Because we've been, statistically, a pretty good rebounding team. In a game like (Sunday), we were giving up both. We're giving up a great shooting percentage by our opponent and then when they're missing, they're getting the ball back. That's very hard to overcome, but fortunately for us we did overcome it."

Cavs And Blazers Battling For Jefferson

Feb 18, 2009 7:44 PM

Though a deal is not imminent, the Cleveland Cavaliers have talked to the Milwaukee Bucks about acquiring forward Richard Jefferson, two league executives said Wednesday afternoon.

Cleveland is offering the expiring contract of Wally Szczerbiak for Jefferson, who has two years and $29.2 million left on his contract.

The Bucks have also been in talks with the Portland Trail Blazers about a package that would include Jefferson for the expiring contract of Raef Lafrentz and Travis Outlaw.

LaFrentz Drawing Better Offers Than Amare?

Feb 17, 2009 12:45 PM

The Suns may or may not trade Amare Stoudemire, but there may be more of a demand for Portland's Raef LaFrentz and his expiring contract.

"If you asked owners in the league who they'd rather have right now, LaFrentz or Stoudemire, I think more than half of them would prefer LaFrentz," one executive said. "That's how screwed up this thing has been. I guarantee you [Blazers GM] Kevin Pritchard has gotten better offers for LaFrentz than the Suns have gotten for Stoudemire."

Gerald Wallace, Caron Butler and Richard Jefferson are the three players the Blazers are reportedly focusing on the most.

Portland sees Wallace as an ideal fit, but the Bobcats are trying to include Nazr Mohammed.

Will The Bucks Stand Pat?

Feb 16, 2009 5:47 PM

Bucks general manager John Hammond has a difficult decision to make in the coming days, should he swing a deal or stand pat?

Unless Hammond is able to acquire a significant expiring contract from another team, many feel as though Milwaukee should stand pat.

Luke Ridnour is a name that has been mentioned in several trade rumors, but the team could opt to keep him for the remainder of the season.

Suns, Bucks, Hornets Looking To Dump Salary

Feb 16, 2009 9:27 AM

The Suns, Bucks and Hornets are three teams that are expected to dump salary before this Thursday's trade deadline passes.

Shaquille O'Neal's $20 million salary, which Phoenix acquired last season, has put the team over the luxury tax threshold and they are shopping the contract of Amare Stoudemire because of it.

Milwaukee could trade Richard Jefferson to a playoff contender, as he'd be easier to deal than Andrew Bogut and Michael Redd, who are both suffering from serious injuries.

New Orleans might be forced to deal Tyson Chandler, as they have $76 million tied up in salary for next season already. Peja Stojakovic, who will earn $14.2 million next season, has crippled their cap situation.
