Bucks Will Be Frugal This Summer

May 27, 2009 11:15 AM

John Hammond is not making any pretenses that the Bucks will be able to afford to climb over the luxury tax during the 2009-10 season.

"We need to have discipline moving forward," said Hammond. "That means that we need to have discipline from the financial side of our decisions. We are a team that is teetering at the (luxury) tax and for us to change our roster and to move the organization in a direction which we feel that we would want to go, we're going to need some financial flexibility. And in order to get to that position, we have to have discipline here initially."

Staying below the luxury-tax threshold for next season will be paramount for the Bucks.

Charlie Villanueva and Ramon Sessions will both be restricted free agents, but the club is already at approximately $67 million in salary with just their qualifying offers, if you also count in the salary of their draft pick.

Bucks Could Replace Sessions With Flynn

May 25, 2009 3:25 PM

The Bucks, who have the tenth overall pick, are showing interest in Syracuse point guard Jonny Flynn, according to DraftExpress.com.

It is appearing more and more unlikely that Milwaukee will be able to retain point guard Ramon Sessions due to his contract demands.

RealGM Note: Christopher Reina, the Executive Editor of RealGM, has projected that the Bucks will select point guard Brandon Jennings with the tenth selection.

Reina has Flynn going fourteenth to the Suns in his latest mock draft.

Bogut Still Waiting For OK To Work Out

May 9, 2009 11:19 AM

Bucks center Andrew Bogut will undergo an MRI in about a week that should determine if he can begin working out in the wake of a stress fracture in his back.

"I'm waiting to get another MRI scan, which will be in about a week," Bogut said. "It should show us it's fully healed, and then I'll start doing stuff slowly.

"Because it's such a long offseason, there's no point trying to rush it and then set myself back. We need to make sure it's 100 percent healed, so I'm not doing any strenuous activities at all."

Bogut has been watching the NBA playoffs from his home in Melbourne, Australia.

"Just watching the playoff atmosphere right now, I'm jealous of every team that's there," Bogut said Friday. "It's a great thing to be part of."
