Onyeka Okongwu has agreed to a four-year, $62 million contract extension with the Atlanta Hawks.

Okongwu has emerged as Atlanta's probable center of the future as Clint Capela has been a frequent trade candidate. 

The Atlanta Hawks have exercised their 2024-25 rookie scale team options for Jalen Johnson and AJ Griffin. This was the fourth-year option for Johnson and the third-year option for Griffin.

Johnson is expected to play a bigger role for Atlanta this season, following the trade of John Collins. The 6-foot-9 forward appeared in 70 games last season and averaged 5.6 points and 4.0 rebounds in 14.9 minutes per game.

Griffin played in 72 games as a rookie, with 12 starts. He averaged 8.9 points and hit 39% from behind the arc.

The Atlanta Hawks have waived David Singleton. The 6-foot-4 guard had signed a non-guaranteed training camp contract.

Singleton is expected to play for the College Park Skyhawks of the G League this season.

Singleton, who appeared in two games for the Hawks at Summer League 2023 in Las Vegas, enjoyed a five-year collegiate career at UCLA (2018-23) where he left as the program’s all-time leader in games played. He saw action in 164 games (40 starts), owning career averages of 5.7 points and 1.8 rebounds in 20.2 minutes of play (.430 FG%, .434 3FG%, .759 FT%). Singleton helped lead the Bruins to three consecutive Sweet 16 appearances, including advancing to the 2021 Final Four.

The Atlanta Hawks signed guard Brandon Randolph.

Randolph has appeared in 61 total games (29 starts) over his three-year NBA G League career, suiting up for the Austin Spurs (2022-23) and Wisconsin Herd (2019-20, 2021-23). He owns averages of 11.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 18.7 minutes per game (.497 FG%, .343 3FG%, .747 FT%). In 43 total games (28 starts) during the 2022-23 season, Randolph notched 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steal in 27.7 minutes (.505 FG%, .351 3FG%, .788 FT%).

The Atlanta Hawks have waived guard Jarkel Joiner and Keaton Wallace. Both players were on non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contracts.

Both Joiner and Wallace are expected to join the College Park Skyhawks of the G League for the upcoming season. The Hawks roster currently stands in regular season compliance with 15 players on standard contracts and three players on two-way deals.
