Jimmy Butler On His Personality: 'Damn Right I'm Confrontational'

Jan 30, 2019 3:02 PM

Jimmy Butler explained his confrontational nature during a recent episode of the Posted Up With Chris Haynes podcast.

“Damn right I'm confrontational. I am confrontational...I would be the first to tell you, I don't give a damn. I've always been like that. I haven’t said it all the time. I’ve always acted it though. Like if you know me and you’re around me, man, if you not around me everyday, I don’t give a damn what you say because you don’t know what I go through," said Butler.

Butler said he modeled his work ethic and approach to the game after Luol Deng.

Butler added that he doesn't care how he's perceived by other people and that he liked being misunderstood.

"If you just come be around me for X amount of hours, X amount of days, you’ll be like, ‘ah, I get it. I understand. I know a little bit about him. I know why he do what he do. I know why he think the way that he thinks. I know why he move the way that he move.’ But you’re not (around me.) You only see bits and pieces from what you get out of the media or from what somebody is telling you."

Carmelo Anthony: 'I Just Want To Be Happy'

Jan 29, 2019 12:52 AM

Carmelo Anthony stated that he's at a point in his life where he's looking for happiness.

"At this point, I just want to be happy. I think I've put myself in a good, peaceful mind state right now, [being] able to focus in on what I need to focus in on. And whatever's going to make me happy, then we're going to make it happen," said Anthony when discussing where he may end up in the future.

Anthony was in attendance at Madison Square Garden to watch Dwyane Wade. He received a standing ovation when he was shown on the Jumbotron.

Wade added that Anthony was in a good place mentally.

"Forget basketball. I just want to make sure that everything that's happened in the last year and a half, whatever, that his mental is OK and that's doing all right. He seems to be. Through our conversations, I can tell, the videos are sent in our group chat, I can tell all those things, that his spirit is up, that he's feeling better. Hopefully, [he'll get] an opportunity to come back out on this NBA floor, whether it's this year, whether it's next year, to continue to play this game that he loves and he's still good at," added Wade.

Kris Dunn, Robin Lopez Exchange Words At Practice

Jan 14, 2019 10:18 PM

Robin Lopez and Kris Dunn exchanged words during the Chicago Bulls' practice on Monday in Santa Monica.

Lopez made an aggressive play on Dunn before the argument. Lopez left practice for 15 minutes to cool off before returning.

Chicago is on a seven-game losing streak.

"We had a very, very competitive practice," Boylen said. "I felt like we had some guys who are sick of not winning games."

Boylen said Lopez told him his discontent stems from not playing as many minutes as he had in previous seasons.

"I'm going to play some different people," Boylen said. "He has got pride and he wants to play, but he's all for the team and he understands. You don't always expect guys to be happy with their situation or their minutes or whatever. That's not part of this league. What's part of this league is you have to do what's best for the team. Rolo has always done that."

Chicago is trying to acquire at least a second round pick for Lopez's $14 million expiring contract.

Bulls Not Interested In Buying Out Robin Lopez

Jan 14, 2019 1:46 AM

The Chicago Bulls are refusing to negotiate a buyout agreement with Robin Lopez, preferring to trade him for an asset.

Lopez's representatives have been working to reach a buyout agreement with the team since December, though Lopez has yet to personally approach the Bulls.

“I’m not heavily involved in [buyout talks] because I try to stay focused in on the day-to-day. My [agent] keeps me informed of the bigger bullet points, abreast of the more important news,” said Lopez.

Lopez would be interested in joining the Warriors if he were bought out, saying "I think it’s an appealing situation for just about anybody in the league. You go there, they share the ball, they play defense, they play the right way”.
