Chris Tomasson of the Beacon Journal reports that Del Harris has removed his name from consideration for the Cleveland Cavaliers head coaching position. He will opt to stay in Dallas as an assistant with the Mavericks instead. The reported candidates remaining for the job are former NBA coach and current Fordham coach Bob Hill, Nuggets assistant coach John Lucas and Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins.

Sources have said that he wants more than the Cavs are offering to leave his comfortable position as Assistant Coach of the Dallas Mavericks.
With the 8th pick in the draft, the Cavaliers may look to Pau Gasol, a 7-foot small forward from Spain. Chris Tomasson of the Beacon Journal reports that the Cavs are looking to get big and athletic and some say that Gasol at 20 years old is further developed than Dirk Nowitzki was at that age.

Tom Withers of the AP reports that Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Del Harris has not completely ruled out coaching the Cavaliers next season. Del's son Larry says that Harris is contemplating the offer and will decide soon.
The online edition of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Wednesday that six NBA team sources have said they'd be shocked if Harris took the Cavs vacant coaching position. Two of those sources said Harris was expecte to make his decision Wednesday.

They have never picked higher than the predicted position and have moved down 2 of the last 3 years. In an attempt to change their luck, team owner Gordon Gund represented the team at the lottery drawing. After having the 8th worst record in the league and finishing 9th in the lottery it's fairly obvious the bad luck hasn't changed.
According the Chris Tomasson of the Beacon Journal, the Cavaliers have offered their head coaching job to Del Harris. Harris met with Cavs GM Jim Paxon on Friday. If he's interested in the job, he would still have to meet with Gordon Gund to work out the details of a new contract. If Harris turns down the offer, the Cavs could turn to Nuggets Assistant John Lucas.
Perry A. Farrell of the Detroit Free Press writes: "Lucas, a Denver Nuggets assistant, is one of the Pistons' five finalists, and his resume likely puts him at the top of the list. But the Cleveland Cavaliers might try to hire him first, and Lucas also is expected to get a call from Portland about the Trail Blazers' vacancy."
