Jamison Expects To Remain With Wizards

Jan 28, 2010 10:21 AM

Antawn Jamison's name has frequently appeared in rumor mills, but he is anticipating remaining with the Wizards.

"I'm not going anywhere until they let my agent know," Jamison said. "I got a pretty good relationship with [the Wizards' front office], and all things pointing forward is being here until my contract is over with, so that's my mind-frame."

Jamison signed a four-year extension in June 2008 reportedly worth $50 million.

"I've been playing for a while, and I know how rumors get started, trade rumors, this and that nature," Jamison said, "but those guys have been looking at me in my face, and pretty much everything is staying put."

Published reports suggest the Cavaliers are a potential suitor for Jamison and that the asking price is Zydrunas Ilgauskas, J.J. Hickson and a first-round pick. Cleveland is one of the NBA's only legitimate title contenders.

"That's the only thing I think about is winning a title," Jamison said. "That's the reason why I'm still playing. That's the reason why I'm still going hard. It's the only thing that drives me and pushes me, so it's the only thing left I have to accomplish, and I'm going to continue to do that."

Wizards May Not Want To Help Cavs Via Trade

Jan 25, 2010 4:29 PM

The Cavaliers are interested in acquiring forward Antawn Jamison from the Wizards.

However, a source told the News-Herald that Washington may not want to help out Cleveland via trade.

There is some bad blood between the two teams stemming from playoff battles and the Larry Hughes signing back in 2005.

Reports indicate that the Wizards want center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, forward J.J. Hickson and a first-round pick in exchange for Jamison.

Artest: Cleveland Is 'Nothing' Without LeBron

Jan 23, 2010 6:01 PM

Lakers forward Ron Artest doesn't think the Cavaliers would be a playoff team without LeBron James.

"Actually I thought about that [Thursday]," Artest told CBS Sports.

"If you take LeBron off that team, no. They're not. They're nothing. Not that they're nothing, they're still human beings. But you take him off that team, no. I guess that's why they got me, to take him out of the game. [Thursday] it didn't work. They got us this year, so all we can do is move on from that and see what happens in the playoffs."

Artest, a Queensbridge native, added that his hometown Knicks need some star power.

"No disrespect to Cleveland, but we need some star power here in New York," he added. "We need some legit star power, so I can come down and beat up on 'em. We still need some star power here in New York. We need one of those big-time players to come here and get a great team, and when the Lakers play the Knicks, we beat 'em by like 40 or 50 points. It would be great hopefully one day to see a New York-L.A. championship. I don't have any power to do that, but it would be nice."
