Ben Wallace is facing a five-year felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon after they arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving early Saturday in the Detroit area.

Wallace told investigators the gun was his wife's, registered in her name and he does not have a concealed-weapons permit, according to the Bloomfield Township Police report released today.

Wallace said he threw it in a backpack on the rear passenger seat "because he wanted protection as he drove," from his home in Virginia to metro Detroit on Friday, according to the report. 

Austin Daye has signed with BC Khimki and is expected to make his debut next week.

Daye has signed a two-month contract.

Austin Daye has signed a contract to play in Russia.

Daye's deal has an out-clause and is believed to last until December.

Brian Hill has agreed to be an assistant for new coach Lawrence Frank, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The Pistons now have a full roster of assistant coaches for the 11-12 NBA season.

The Pistons will hire Dee Brown and Roy Rogers as assistant coaches on the staff of Lawrence Frank, a source confirmed.

Brown was most recently the head coach and general manager of the Springfield Armor of the D-League.

The Pistons hired Frank in August and he has interviewed more than 30 candidates for assistant jobs. Pat Sullivan and Brian Hill, assistants under former coach John Kuester, are still in the running.

John Loyer, assistant coach of the New Jersey Nets, has been granted permission to interview for a job with the Pistons.

The Pistons hired Lawrence Frank to be their new head coach this summer.

The Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment announced today that Dennis Mannion has been appointed President, effective immediately.

Mannion, 52, will oversee all Detroit Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment business operations, including sales, marketing, finance and administration.  Detroit Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars will continue to oversee all basketball operations.

Mannion brings a broad and unique perspective, having spent 29 seasons working in four major professional sports, including two years managing business operations for the NBA’s Denver Nuggets and the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche from 1998 to 1999. Mannion most recently served as President of the Los Angeles Dodgers where he worked from 2007 to 2010. He also previously worked for the Baltimore Ravens from 1999 to 2007, and for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1982 to 1997.
