Stern: Bucks Will Stay In Milwaukee, Need New Arena

Oct 30, 2008 4:48 PM

NBA Commissioner David Stern claims that the Bucks will remain in Milwaukee, but he believes that they will need a new arena at some point.

"I don't want to say I have concerns (about the Bucks and the arena situation)," Stern said. "I think the normal evolution of our league probably says at some point, there will be a new building in Milwaukee."

However, Stern feels as though the situation is only as important as owner, and Senator, Herb Kohl feels it is.

"Only as urgent as Senator Kohl feels it is," Stern added.

Bucks Claim Austin Croshere; Waive Adrian Griffin

Oct 27, 2008 10:58 PM

The Milwaukee Bucks have acquired forward Austin Croshere off waivers, General Manager John Hammond announced today. In a subsequent move, the team requested waivers on forward Adrian Griffin.

Croshere (6-10, 235) comes to the Bucks with 11 years of NBA experience. He spent his first nine seasons with the Indiana Pacers, the team that drafted him with the 12th overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft. He followed up his Pacers' career with one-year stints in Dallas (2006-07) and Golden State (2007-08). He averaged 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 44 games with the Warriors last season. He comes to Milwaukee with 645 regular season games to his credit and career averages of 6.9 points and 4.1 rebounds. The 33-year-old has also appeared in 68 playoff games and owns postseason averages of 6.7 points and 3.6 rebounds.

Griffin (6-5, 230) appeared in two preseason games with the Bucks.

The Bucks' opening night roster remains at 15 players.

Skiles: Bulls' Rose A Star

Oct 25, 2008 5:57 AM

Bucks' coach Scott Skiles believes that his former team has a star in Derrick Rose, the Daily Herald is reporting.

"I watched him play in college and I watch his games now. The guy's a star," Skiles said before Friday's preseason finale at the United Center. "I think the sky's the limit for him."

"He's beyond quick. He's quick and fast, if that makes any sense, and so powerful. He can go to the rim and finish. He's got a bunch of unique shots in the painted area he can make, floaters and runners. That's not even to mention that he sees the floor, passes the ball. He can be very hard to handle, there's no question about that."

"I'm getting more comfortable with the offense and with my teammates," Rose said. "I'm just reacting instead of thinking. This is almost like the Memphis offense. If you think too much, you're just going to kill yourself when you're on the court and beat yourself up."

Another strategy Rose employed is staying aggressive on offense.

"I'm not the type of point guard to sit back and pass the ball all day," he said. "I can score a little bit, so that helps the team. When I get to be more aggressive, we get people open. I'm just attacking and getting people open right now."

Oct 16, 2008 5:04 AM

After starting strongly, the Bucks trailed most of the game before Bogut took control in the second half and kept Milwaukee within striking distance.

"We were going to Bogut a lot because they had a small player on him," Coach Scott Skiles said.

Bogut Misses Game With Migraine

Oct 8, 2008 1:57 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks were without starting center Andrew Bogut for their preseason opener on Monday night due to a migraine, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is reporting.

Bogut, who was back at practice on Tuesday and is expected to play against Detroit tonight, said the migraines are completely random and can come on at any time.

I could get two in a week or I could get two in a year; it?s that random,? Bogut said of the severe headaches. ?I haven?t had one for about six months. Sometimes I think a little bit of stress brings it on. Doctors say to avoid cheese, caffeine, coffee, soda. By the end of the list, you can?t eat or drink anything.?

Bogut said he thought the headaches might stem from a childhood incident, when he rammed his head on the top of a picket fence.

?When I was about 11, I still remember it to this day,? Bogut said. ?I cut myself open on a fence. I?ve gotten them ever since then. I was playing (Australian rules) football outside and bent over to pick up the football, and it was getting dark, and I smacked my head right on it.?
