Giannis Antetokounmpo: Bucks 'Definitely Not' Making Big Changes After Game 1 Loss

Apr 30, 2019 2:57 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo said that he needed to play with more effort in game 2 against the Boston Celtics.

"My older brother usually doesn't call me after games. But he was like, 'You got to play harder. You have to help your team and play hard.' [He] definitely told me that. Coach [Mike Budenholzer] told me that I've got to put more effort, I've got to be more aggressive," said Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo shot just 7-of-21 from the field in a 22-point performance in game 1.

He added that the Bucks aren't making any big changes to their strategy.

"Definitely not. We're just going to keep doing what we've been doing all year. I don't think we should change at all. Why should there be a change after a game that we lost? We should not be the team that made the adjustment," he added.

Mike Budenholzer said that the Bucks need to go back to basics in game 2.

"I think just some of our basic stuff defensively, offensively. I think just our activity, I think the competitiveness that we need just wasn't where it needs to be. We just got to play better. Give credit to Boston, obviously they impacted how we played. They played well. We got to impact them more. They played well; we didn't. We need the opposite in Game 2."

Apr 16, 2019 1:57 AM

An analysis conducted by Forbes concluded that Giannis Antetokounmpo was the most underpaid player in the NBA this season.

The study took into consideration the amount of wins a player produced to get an "expected" salary for that player, then took the difference between a player's "expected" salary and current salary.

By the Forbes metric, Antetokounmpo was responsible for 18.1 wins on the season and should have been paid over $53 million for his contribution as compared to his $24.1 million salary.

Nikola Mirotic is expected to return to the Milwaukee Bucks for game 1 tomorrow against the Detroit Pistons.

Mirotic has been out for the last month with a fractured thumb.

"Not much soreness, as we expected. I should be ready to go," said Mirotic.

Mirotic added that he was hungry for playoff basketball.

"This is going to be my fourth playoffs in five years. The guys are ready, but the message from our coach is that there's nothing different in the playoffs. We need to play our same basketball. Play hard. I think we should be fine. We are a very deep team and very hungry."

Giannis Antetokounmpo: I Don't Like Being Hollywood

Apr 9, 2019 8:52 AM

Giannis Antetokounmpo has an elaborate and eccentric set of workouts. Antetokounmpo aims to eliminate distractions and unnecessary decisions such as what to wear.

"I just want to win," Antetokounmpo said. "All that other stuff takes away from the game, and you just spend extra energy on looking good for five seconds. I don't care about that. I just want to look good on the court. Get the win and go back home and lay on my couch and just watch game film. That's it."

Antetokounmpo recently declined a role in "Space Jam 2" with LeBron James. Antetokounmpo would have had to give up two weeks of private workouts while making the movie.

"I don't like being Hollywood," Antetokounmpo said. "I don't like all this extra drama. I am just going to try to be me."

Eric Bledsoe Ejected As Bucks Clinch Best Record In NBA

Apr 5, 2019 1:30 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks clinched the best record in the NBA after beating the Philadelphia 76ers 128-122.

Giannis Antetokounmpo finished the game with 45 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists.

"Yeah, that felt like a statement," said Mike Budenholzer after the game.

Eric Bledsoe was ejected less than 3 minutes into the game after getting into a confrontation with Joel Embiid.

"That's unfortunate. Neither team wants to have somebody missing, whether it's injury or somebody getting thrown out. Hopefully we'll be smarter and better for it as a team. [Bledsoe] will be smarter and better for it. He was the first guy greeting his teammates and being there for them when they came in. So maybe it's better that it happens now than another time," added Budenholzer.
