Suns Expected To Use Savings From Butler Trade To Waive Beasley

Aug 29, 2013 9:38 PM

The Phoenix Suns gained $5.65 million of cap space for any potential in-season trades by making the Caron Butler deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

They appear likely to use that money to make an expected costly waiver of Michael Beasley more palatable.

Beasley would be owed $9 million of guaranteed salary over the next two seasons and his dead money would not be as big of an issue.

Suns, Bucks Agree On Caron Butler Trade For Smith, Kravtsov

Aug 29, 2013 10:42 AM

The Phoenix Suns have agreed to trade Caron Butler to the Milwaukee Bucks for Ish Smith and Slava Kravtsov.

Butler has found appealing the prospect of playing for his home-state team. He was traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Suns seven weeks ago and was expected to bring leadership to Phoenix.

Butler, 33, will make $8 million this season on an expriring contract but the Bucks could absorb most of that with $7.5 million of cap space.

It is unclear what the Suns have planned for Smith and Kravtsov.

Dragic On Board With McDonough's Vision For Suns, Excited To Play Alongside Bledsoe

Aug 27, 2013 12:12 AM

Goran Dragic endorsed the Phoenix Suns’ offseason moves, including the acquisition of Eric Bledsoe.

"I’m really excited with what they’re doing," Dragic said. "I talked with Ryan [McDonough] and Jeff [Hornacek] a couple of times. They told me what they're doing and how they want to do things. I think it's awesome."

McDonough and Hornacek have expressed optimism over a proposed plan to start Dragic and Bledsoe together in the backcourt.

"He’s a mini-Lebron James," Dragic said of Bledsoe. "He’s got that big strength so when he's in the open court, he’s unstoppable. Like a lot of fans know, I like to play fast basketball. When I get the ball to the other guy, he’s going to run. We’re going to score a lot of points."

Alex Len Expects To Ready For Training Camp After Undergoing Surgeries On Both Ankles

Aug 17, 2013 8:28 AM

Alex Len expects to be ready when the Phoenix Suns open training camp in late September.

Len had separate surgical procedures on both ankles following his final season at Maryland.

“I’ve got two more weeks of rehab and then I’ll be back about 85-90 percent,” Len said. “I’ll be back for training camp and be ready for the season.”

Len has spent most of this year with a protective boot on one foot or the other.

“I’m trying to just focus on the other things,” he said. “Just learn the game because there are a lot of things I have to learn, different rules and stuff like that. I don’t really think about it. The doctors tell me to just not worry about it. Everything’s great. I’m feeling right. I don’t feel any pain so there’s nothing to worry about.”
