Phil Jackson Planned On Signing George Hill To Mentor Frank Ntilikina

Nov 10, 2017 11:14 AM

Phil Jackson intended to sign George Hill if he remained president of the New York Knicks.

Hill was going to be a mentor to Frank Ntilikina, who the Knicks selected eighth overall.

Hill is friends with Courtney Lee and Joakim Noah and was interested in the Knicks. Hill ultimately signed with the Sacramento Kings instead.

Steve Mills pivoted the Knicks towards going younger while eventual Knicks' general manager Scott Perry played a role in bringing Hill to the Kings to mentor De'Aaron Fox.

The Knicks instead used their cap space on Tim Hardaway Jr., who Jackson did not have interest in signing.

10 Percent Stake In Kings Up For Sale

Nov 1, 2017 2:00 PM

A 10 percent stake of the Sacramento Kings is being made available by one of their minority owners.

The Kings were valued at $1.1 billion in February, but the Houston Rockets have since been sold for $2.2 billion, which was 33 percent more than Forbes' estimate.

Vivek Ranadive is the team’s managing partner. The other sizable stakeholders are Qualcomm Inc. Chairman Paul Jacobs and Raj Bhathal, founder of swimwear company RAJ Swim.

The Kings have done well financially since moving into their new arena last season.
