Bradley Beal Not Bothered By Teams Calling Wizards On Trade

Oct 29, 2020 4:30 PM

Bradley Beal has been the subject of trade rumors in the media this offseason. Beal signed a contract extension in October of 2019 worth $72 million over two seasons. Beal could have signed for one additional season but he instead can become a free agent in 2022.

Beal openly talked about the trade rumors during a podcast appearance this week.

"When I'm playing and see those things, I don't let it bother me," he said this week on "The Old Man & The Three" podcast. "I feel like early in my career, it probably would have.

"But now, it's a place of just understanding your value, understanding you're wanted -- especially by teams who want to win, teams who want to win a championship."

The Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Denver Nuggets are among the teams who have been linked with Beal.

"Teams are trying. A lot of them are calling, a lot of them are inquiring and putting packages together -- trying to see if they can get me," he explained. "That's not a secret. They've been doing that for the last couple of years.

"I don't view it as a distraction. It's kind of a sign of respect and motivation too. Keep doing what you're doing, keep playing hard, keep being the professional that you are. People like that, people are gravitating towards you.

"Understand what you have here (with the Wizards), but understand that you're wanted elsewhere too. So just understanding your value and appreciating it."

Isaiah Thomas Underwent Resurfacing Surgery On Hip In May

Oct 5, 2020 1:39 PM

Isaiah Thomas underwent resurfacing surgery on his right hip in May and will be ready for the start of the 20-21 season.

Thomas has dealt with hip issues since 2017.

Thomas has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angels Lakers, Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards since he was a two-time All-Star with the Boston Celtics.

"It's like night and day for me," Thomas told ESPN. "There's no more pain. I've got my full range of motion. For three years, I was trying to play the best players in the world on one leg. I needed help from my kids to put my socks on in the morning.

"Now, I can lift weights. I can squat low. I can work out twice a day. I'm able to cut and move and stop, able to cut and go. I feel like I'm 31 years old again. And now, I have scientific evidence to show that."
