Jasikevicius Says He Hasn't Signed With Olympiakos

Aug 25, 2007 10:57 AM

Despite rumors to the contrary, ex-Pacers guard Sarunas Jasikevicius told a radio station in Israel he has not signed with Olympiakos in Athens, Greece, because he is still under contract to Golden State.

Jasikevicius told Sport 5 his agent has presented several options to the Warriors that would lead to his departure, including potential trades to other NBA teams to no avail. "NBA is strange a lot of times," he said. "I would think if they didn't want a player they'd get rid of the player."

Nelson Deal Still In Limbo

Aug 24, 2007 9:05 AM

Training camp for the Warriors starts in a little more than six weeks on the campus of BYU-Hawaii in the town of Laie, Oahu.

Meanwhile, over on Maui, coach Don Nelson is fretting about his so-far stalled efforts to renegotiate his contract.

His representative, San Francisco attorney John O'Connor, is keeping mum, other than saying Thursday: "We're not near a deal, but we're not at an impasse, either."

The Warriors aren't even saying that much. Club president Robert Rowell, citing organization policy, won't discuss contract negotiations.

Nellie And Warriors Still At Odds On Contract

Aug 22, 2007 11:37 AM

Don Nelson is telling friends that he's upset with the Warriors' most recent proposal and that the next week or so could be the tipping point.

"All is quiet on the Western front," Nelson's lawyer, John O'Connor, said Tuesday when asked about the state of talks.

Multiple sources confirmed Tuesday that Warriors management has offered to raise Nelson's base salary from $3.1 million to $5.1 million for the coming season. That's agreeable to the Nelson camp.

Nelson was paid $3.1 million in base money last season and earned an additional $2 million in bonuses for making the playoffs and winning a round; he had the same schedule for 2007-2008.

But the Warriors' offer is also believed to change the guaranteed $3.1 million for 2008-2009 (the final year under his original deal) into a non-guaranteed team option for $5.1 million.

Warriors Sign 2nd Round Pick Lasme

Aug 21, 2007 5:21 PM

The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Stephane Lasme, whom the team selected with the 46th overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft, to a contract, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today.  Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Lasme, a 6-8 forward, played four seasons at the University of Massachusetts before entering the NBA Draft.  As a senior, Lasme was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 13.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.09 blocks per game, while shooting 61.1% (165-270 FG) from the field.  He ranked second in the NCAA in blocks, 13th in field goal percentage and tied for 20th in rebounds, joining #1 overall pick Greg Oden as the only players in the nation to rank in the top-25 in three statistical categories.  He recorded four triple-doubles during his senior campaign, joining Jason Kidd (Cal, 1993-94) and Michael Anderson (Drexel, 1985-86) as the only players in NCAA history to record four in a single season.  As a junior, he was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and finished third in the NCAA in blocks (3.86 bpg).

Pietrus Might Have To Settle For Qualifying Offer

Aug 17, 2007 11:17 PM

Mickael Pietrus wants big bucks, but he may not get them. An athletic player and eager defender, he and agents Bill McCandless and Happy Walters might rightfully feel Pietrus is worth as much Jason Kapono got from Toronto (four years, $24 million).

But Kapono was unrestricted; Pietrus might have to settle for the Warriors' $3.4 million qualifying offer and wait a year.

Warriors Want Big Role For Perovic

Aug 17, 2007 1:19 PM

Kosta Perovic's arrival coincides with the buyout of the contract of center Adonal Foyle - whose limited offensive game never was going to fit into Coach Don Nelson's up-tempo style. Foyle's departure indicates the team thinks Perovic can be in the mix to back up Andris Biedrins.

"He's got a lot of skills," Warriors executive Chris Mullin said. "He works hard and only is going to develop more. We just have to be patient with him and see how his game translates to the NBA."

Two New Teams Jump In On Pietrus?

Aug 16, 2007 12:18 PM

Mickael Pietrus and his agent, Bill McCandless, met Wednesday at their request with Warriors officials in Las Vegas.  The Warriors have dragged out the process with the restricted free agent while he has seen interest from teams come and go.

McCandless said Miami general manager Randy Pfund told him the Heat's pursuit of Pietrus was being put on the back burner while the team targeted a couple other veterans. In the meantime, McCandless said, two new teams have jumped into the fray since Friday with attractive packages.

His main suitors have been the Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Orlando Eyes Foyle

Aug 14, 2007 11:01 AM

The Orlando Magic may have set their sights on veteran center Adonal Foyle, who became a free agent Monday when he accepted a contractual buyout from the Golden State Warriors.

Foyle, 32, is an experienced center/forward who could fill the void -- at least defensively -- that was created when Darko Milicic left as a free agent for the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Magic will be able to pay him $1.2 million as a 10-year veteran, adding to his salary from the Warriors.

Warriors Waive Adonal Foyle

Aug 13, 2007 5:05 PM

The Golden State Warriors have requested waivers on center Adonal Foyle after reaching a contractual buyout agreement, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today.  Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

?We will certainly miss Adonal?s presence, both on and off the court,? said Mullin. ?However, we think this move is in the best interest of both parties as we move forward.  Adonal was a true professional in every sense of the word during his decade-long tenure with the Warriors. We wish him the best as he begins the next phase of his career.?

Foyle, 32, was originally drafted by the Warriors with the eighth overall selection in the 1997 NBA Draft and has spent his entire 10-year NBA career with Golden State. This past season, he appeared in 48 games, averaging 2.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.04 blocks in 10.0 minutes per contest.  In 641 career games overall, he has averaged 4.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.78 blocks per contest. Among the Warriors? all-time career leaders, Foyle currently ranks first in blocked shots (1,140), fifth in offensive rebounds (1,221), sixth in defensive rebounds (2,006) and seventh in games played (641).
