Ryan Anderson Agrees To Reduction Of 19-20 Guarantee To $15.6M

Aug 31, 2018 2:44 PM

Ryan Anderson agreed to reduce the guarantee on his $21 million salary for the 19-20 season from $21 million to $15.6 million as part of the Houston Rockets' trade of him to the Phoenix Suns.

For the Suns, the $15.6M represents Brandon Knight's salary for the 2019-20 season.

The Suns will have to decide by July 10, 2019 on guaranteeing the full amount for the final season of Anderson's contract, or they can waive him and owe him the $15.6 million.

Anderson could recoup some of that money if he's waived as teams enter 2019 with more cap space.

Daryl Morey: LeBron James Is Greatest Ever 'By A Bit Of A Big Margin'

Aug 15, 2018 8:36 PM

Daryl Morey believes LeBron James is the best player in the history of the NBA "by a bit of a big margin."

"You look at his ability to generate wins and championship probability over time, and you basically break that down. You don't need all the numbers. You can watch as well and see that.

"But if you basically isolate that and also look at the career he's had, frankly I think at this point it's become a bit of a big margin, actually, where he's come out ahead. I know that's a little controversial."

James has won three titles and four MVPs to six titles and five MVPs by Michael Jordan.

The Houston Rockets had interest in signing James but he instead signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Scottsdale Police Investigating Incident Involving James Harden

Aug 14, 2018 12:25 AM

Police in Scottsdale confirmed they are investigating an incident that occurred this past weekend at a nightclub.

The incident happened at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Scottsdale police spokesman Officer Kevin Watts said.

It was "far too early in the investigation" to confirm what Harden's involvement in the incident was, Watts said.

According to TMZ, a woman said she was at a nightclub in Scottsdale when someone with Harden got into a fight. The woman was recording the scuffle when Harden walked up, grabbed her wrist and phone before throwing her phone onto a roof.

The woman was treated for a wrist injury at an area hospital, TMZ said.

Mike D'Antoni Feels Carmelo Anthony Will Be Better Fit With Rockets Than Knicks

Aug 13, 2018 11:28 PM

Mike D'Antoni believes Carmelo Anthony will be a better fit playing for him with the Houston Rockets than he was with the New York Knicks during his prime.

“Well, at different points of people’s careers or lives or circumstances, things are different," said D'Antoni. "In New York, when they gave away half the team (to Denver in the February 2011 trade that brought Anthony to the Knicks) and everybody expected us to win a championship, it really wasn’t realistic. It put a lot of pressure on everybody, and it kind of burst the pipes. I think this is totally different. We’ve got a team that is a whole bunch of veterans that really, we’ve got one thing in mind, and that’s to win a championship, and we have the possibility. We never had a blow-up before, so it’s not he wanted to play a certain way and I kind of wanted to coach another way.

“Back then, there wasn’t even analytics. I was going by my gut, and he was going by (his) gut, and it’s just, you know, styles clash. And I think now, things have changed and everybody is playing the same way. I think it’s a lot better fit and I think we have a really good chance to be really good.”

D'Antoni envisions Anthony playing a different style.

“The style that we want to play, and we go through that process, it kind of sorts itself out. It’s like USA Basketball. If you’re committed to doing it, and committed to, ‘OK, this is how we’re playing, and then when it’s your turn it’s your turn, but if it isn’t then we’re still within these guidelines.’ Then the more talent you can have, the better the guys are, the better the team is going to be. Look at Golden State, how they had all those guys and you fit in (Kevin) Durant, I mean if you are committed to a certain style, and everybody is committed to the team, it works itself out. ...

“It’s like having Chris and James together (last season). It was relatively noneventful …and I think it’ll be the same thing. ... We’ve just got to make sure we don’t get too far away from taking threes and layups and foul shots. It’ll be a little bit of a learning process. But again, if everybody is committed, then I have no doubt it can work. Whether we can all get it to work? We’ll see.”
