Dunleavy Wants Baron In Shape For Camp

Apr 16, 2009 5:05 PM

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy made it clear on Wednesday night that he wants his star players reporting to camp in shape prior to next season.

"Our guys have to come back into shape, not come to camp and think you'll get in shape," said Dunleavy, who added that players will be fined if they aren't.

Baron Davis, who failed to report to camp in shape last fall, is certainly saying all the right things about his relationship with Dunleavy.

"I think our relationship over this whole season has really grown," Davis said. "When you see us out there now, it's more so that we trust each other. I know what he wants out there. If not, he'll dictate that to me. It's a growing trust.

"I love coach's attitude. His cockiness, I think that's really going to rub off on the team for next year, and it's something I'm going to feed off of as well."

Sterling To Paul: You Belong In Hollywood

Apr 2, 2009 5:22 PM

Clippers owner Donald Sterling was very impressed with the play of Chris Paul on Wednesday night, when the Hornets downed the Clippers 104-98 in Los Angeles.

Sterling was seen speaking with Paul after the game, and the point guard admitted later that the owner told him he "belonged in Hollywood."

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy came away impressed with Paul's play as well.

"I don't know how much better he can get," Dunleavy said. "He's incredibly good. Great passer, great scorer, great toughness, great playmaker and defender. As far as all the categories go, you can check them off on everything.

"Only he could say what he could get better at. The thing that Chris Paul has going for him, a big part of it, is how strong he is. He's a really strong tough kid. He's got the ability to get people off him because of strength. He gets into these little niches. They can't move him. A lot of time, he's hitting them."
