Clippers In No Hurry To Sign Sessions

Jul 29, 2009 8:31 AM

The Clippers still have interest in restricted free-agent guard Ramon Sessions, but they are in no rush to extend an offer.

As much as the Clippers like Sessions, they obtained some leverage by acquiring Sebastian Telfair from the Timberwolves last week. They had been looking for a backup to starting point guard Baron Davis.

A source claims that the Clippers have inquired about a host of combo guards this offseason.

Sessions Worried About Competition In L.A.

Jul 26, 2009 7:37 PM

The Clippers remain interested in Ramon Sessions, but the point guard's camp is rumored to be worried about competition on the roster.

According to HoopsWorld, Sessions is fine with Baron Davis, but doesn't want to share the court, and playing time, with both Davis and Sebastian Telfair.

Los Angeles may have to move Telfair, who they recently landed in a trade with Minnesota, if they want sign Sessions.

However, sources out of Milwaukee claim that the Bucks will strongly consider matching any offer that the restricted free agent receives.

Clippers Will Waive Rights To Jason Williams

Jul 24, 2009 7:36 AM

The Clippers are expected to waive their exclusive rights to negotiate with point guard Jason Williams on Friday.

The move will allow Williams to pursue a comeback to the NBA this season after not playing in the league in 2008-09.

Williams will become a free agent in seven days as he waits to clear waivers.

Sources claim that the Clippers had a deadline of Thursday from the league office to exercise their exclusive right to re-sign Williams, who signed a one-year deal with the club last August.

He opted in September to place himself on the league's voluntarily retired list.

Dunleavy: Griffin Won't Need Surgery

Jul 24, 2009 7:27 AM

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy says that rookie forward Blake Griffin won't need surgery on his injured shoulder.

The team announced Wednesday that Griffin has a strained right shoulder, which will require three to four weeks of rest to heal.

"The good news was they never mentioned surgery or any kind of a deal," Dunleavy said Thursday. "That was the first great news.

"I'm disappointed to hear anything which puts him on the shelf because of his great work ethic. He had improved so much in the short period of time he was with us prior to going into summer league. But I don't think it'll be a major setback for him at all."

Griffin Will Rest Strained Right Shoulder

Jul 22, 2009 6:37 PM

Blake Griffin will spend the next three to four weeks resting a strain to his right shoulder, which he incurred in the third game of the Clippers? five game Las Vegas Summer League schedule last week. Griffin, named the League?s Most Outstanding Player, went on to average 19.2 points and 10.8 rebounds.

Griffin will maintain his normal lower body training and conditioning regimen, and will be further evaluated regularly. He was examined and diagnosed Tuesday by Clippers? team physician Dr. Steven Shimoyama. A second examination Wednesday by Los Angeles-based specialist Dr. Lewis Yocum confirmed the earlier diagnosis and suggested protocol.

As a precaution, Griffin will be held out of the USA Basketball National Team Mini-Camp to which he was invited and which starts Wednesday in Las Vegas.

Clippers Still Interested In Iverson, Sessions

Jul 21, 2009 4:26 PM

Even after acquiring three players from the Timberwolves, the Clippers are still interested in Allen Iverson and Ramon Sessions.

Sessions is a restricted free agent, and while there are reports that the Knicks will soon sign the point guard to an offer sheet, the Clippers remain in contention for the soon-to-be former member of the Bucks.

Iverson is expected to meet with Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy later this week. The only issue that could keep Iverson from signing on with Los Angeles is that he may not be willing to accept a secondary role.

Sessions' Agent Says Offer Getting Close

Jul 20, 2009 6:25 PM

Ramon Sessions' agent, Jimmy Wells, said Monday that an offer to his client may be near.

"We're getting close with three teams," Wells said.  He confirmed that two of the suitors are the Clippers and Knicks.

It is possible that the Clippers' trade to acquire Sebastian Telfair will cause them to drop out of the running for Sessions.

Wells said he did not know whether Milwaukee would match an offer sheet that the restricted free-agent Sessions signs.

"I don't know what the Bucks are thinking," Wells said.
