The Portland Trail Blazers internally considered firing Terry Stotts during the offseason and nearly made that decision.
The Phoenix Suns were one of several teams that began engaging third parties about Stotts' potential interest in their jobs.
Damian Lillard fought for the Blazers to keep Stotts.
"I was asked what I thought, and I just said I love him as a coach," Lillard said. "We all love him."
Stotts and Neil Olshey have developed an understanding during their time working together.
Ryan Anderson's minutes with the Phoenix Suns are down, but he's attempting to remain positive.
Anderson was acquired by the Suns from the Houston Rockets late in the offseason.
“When I was first starting off like some of these guys,” Anderson said, “I was ready when my name was called, and I performed and that’s what led to me getting more minutes and I was eventually starting. Those are moments that coaches really notice. If I can bring that out of a guy, I can help work after practice, that’s more important than me playing 10 minutes in a game.”
Anderson is averaging just 4.5 points per game this season.
“I feel good. I’m working hard in practice trying to get the guys better. We have a lot of young talent on this team and guys that need more experience. The more time they get on the court, the better they’re going to be.”
There have been at least seven teams monitoring the status of Terry Rozier this season waiting to see if the Boston Celtics might begin fielding trade calls for him.
Rozier will be a restricted free agent this offseason and Kyrie Irving plans to re-sign with the Celtics to remain their starting point guard. Rozier could command a contract in the $16 million to $20 million per year range.
The Phoenix Suns have been one of the more aggressive teams in pursuing Rozier.
Devin Booker criticized the lack of chemistry on the Phoenix Suns following their 104-82 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
The Suns were booed off the court by their home crowd two days after beating the Grizzlies.
"It sucks, man," Booker told reporters. "We thought last game would be our step forward. We definitely took a step back tonight. We didn't protect home court, came in here and got blown out in front of our fans. It's embarrassing."
Booker said that he and his teammates must "hold each other accountable, and be OK with that."
"I think all good teams have that trust and chemistry, where they're able to get on each other and know that it's for a better purpose," Booker said. "For us, I don't think we have that right now. We're not comfortable with each other, we don't step on each other's toes, we don't push each other, and I think that's what we need to do."
Tyson Chandler has agreed to give back $2.1 million of his $13.5 million salary with the Phoenix Suns.
Chandler will recoup the salary when he signs with the Los Angeles Lakers.
