Alan Hahn reports that according to a source who has knowledge of the situation, the Knicks are not offering Wilson Chandler for Rudy Fernandez, whom the Blazers have made available.
The Knicks have high interest in Fernandez and could absorb his contract with their remaining cap room, but the Blazers are looking for a draft pick in return.
The next first-round pick the Knicks can trade away is their 2014 pick since the team's 2012 pick is committed to the Rockets if it is not one of the top five selections.
The Bulls, Celtics and Knicks have engaged in trade talks with the Blazers regarding Rudy Fernandez, according to a report.
The Oregonian first reported the interested parties, citing Fernandez's agent, Andy Miller.
Portland has added veteran coach Bernie Bickerstaff and former Blazer Buck Williams to their coaching staff as assistants.
The team also added Bob Ociepka to head coach Nate McMillan's staff.
Bickerstaff has been a head coach for the Bobcats, Nuggets, Supersonics and Wizards.
The Trail Blazers are open to trading Rudy Fernandez, the guard told Spanish language newspaper El Mundo Deportivo.
"Portland is willing to make a trade and the truth is I'm pleased they want to do it," Fernandez told the paper.
"Now we have to find a team where I can have an important role or where I can find the dynamics I enjoyed in Portland the first year."
HoopsHype.com translated the original article.
"My agents are in the United States, they are speaking with them and if something comes up they will travel to Portland," Fernandez continued.
The Portland Trail Blazers have named Rich Cho as the team's new general manager, Trail Blazers President Larry Miller announced today. Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed.
"'Rich is the perfect fit for our organization," said Miller. "He has the right balance of basketball knowledge, business acumen and tremendous people skills. Everyone I spoke to about Rich commented not just on his qualifications but on who he is as a person. He is well known for his ability to connect genuinely with people. Rich will be a great fit for our organization and for Portland. He is an executive on the rise and we're thrilled to have him as a Trail Blazer."
Cho, who becomes the ninth general manager in Trail Blazers history, joins the Trail Blazers after spending the past nine seasons as assistant general manager of the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma City Thunder.
"I am extremely humbled and grateful for this opportunity, and I will do everything I can to help this great team get even better,"said Rich Cho. "When I met with Mr. Allen, Larry Miller, and coach McMillan, it was immediately apparent to me that this organization has an incredible commitment to winning. As someone who grew up in the northwest, I'm aware of the unbelievable passion and support that Trail Blazers fans have, and I'm excited to be a part of this rich tradition."
The Jazz have informed Wesley Matthews that they will not match the offer sheet he signed with the Blazers.
Utah has decided to sign Raja Bell to a three-year deal, worth $10 million.
Bell still needs to pass his physical, which is a contingency of their decision not to match.
The Blazers interviewed Rich Cho on Tuesday for their general manager vacancy.
Cho is currently the assistant GM of the Thunder.
Larry Miller has previously stated that the Blazers were looking for a candidate with previous GM experience, something Cho does not possess.
?Initially we started out saying, ?Hey, we?re looking for someone that has GM experience,?? Miller said Wednesday. ?And that?s something we?re still looking at. But I guess we?ve gotten to a point where we?re not excluding people that we think might be qualified because they haven?t been a GM yet.?
The Trail Blazers are expected to interview Thunder assistant general manager Rich Cho for their general manager job.
It's the second time a member of Oklahoma City's front office has been linked to Portland. Sam Presti was contacted as well, but he has claimed he's happy as the general manager of the Thunder.
The Jazz will begin contemplating whether to match the five-year, $33 million offer sheet that restricted free-agent Wesley Matthews signed with the Trail Blazers on Monday.
According to a league source, Utah hadn't received official paperwork for the offer on Saturday and teams have seven days from the formal receipt to decide whether or not to match.
The Jazz will have to decide if they want to use what turns out to be their midlevel exception to retain Matthews.
Utah has already lost Carlos Boozer and Kyle Korver in free agency.
