Kings Waive KZ Okpala, Sign P.J. Dozier For Rest Of Season

The Sacramento Kings waived KZ Okpala and signed P.J. Dozier for the rest of the season on Friday night.

Dozier was with the Kings on consecutive 10-day contracts.

Okpala is set to undergo season-ending knee surgery.

Anthony Edwards, De'Aaron Fox and Pascal Siakam have been named as injury replacements for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game.

The trio replace Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Zion Williamson.

All three players were starters and in their place will be Joel Embiid, Lauri Markkanen and Ja Morant.

Kings To Acquire Kessler Edwards, Cash From Nets

The Sacramento Kings are on the verge of acquiring Kessler Edwards and cash from the Brooklyn Nets. 

Edwards has appeared in just 14 games, playing limited minutes after being a regular rotation player as a rookie in 21-22.

The deal will save a total of $8 million in salary and luxury tax for the Nets while opening up a roster spot.

The Kings have made both Richaun Holmes and Alex Len available as they look for defensive upgrades.

The team has also been linked with a possible move for Matisse Thybulle

The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings are monitoring Matisse Thybulle's availability, sources told Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Marc Stein of Substack reported earlier in the week of the Kings' interest in Thybulle.

Stein adds that Ty Jerome and Anthony Lamb, both on two-way contracts, must soon be converted to standard deals should the Warriors continue to rely on them as they have all season.
