Heat Not Interested In Trading For Zach LaVine

Nov 24, 2023 10:54 PM

The Miami Heat have not shown interest in trading for Zach LaVine, a source tells Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

LaVine has reached the trade market with the Chicago Bulls interested in changing direction.

LaVine represents a duplication of Tyler Herro's skill set at a more expensive annual contract. The Heat are not interested in trading Herro for LaVine. If the Heat could acquire LaVine without trading Herro, it would create an incredibly expensive team where five players (LaVine, Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Duncan Robinson and Herro) would exceed the $172.6 million luxury tax line for 24-25 by nearly $3 million.

Zach LaVine Prefers Lakers, Heat, Sixers As Trade Destination

Nov 17, 2023 11:37 PM

Zach LaVine reportedly prefers to get traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, or the Philadelphia 76ers, sources told Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports.

LaVine is also interested in the Spurs and the Kings as a destination.

Sources add that LaVine does not view the Bulls roster as competitive, and is also looking to play under a different coach.

There is a belief around the league that a LaVine trade wouldn't happen until later in the season.

The Lakers, Heat, and Sixers have all registered interest in LaVine.

Lakers, Heat, Sixers Expected To Have Interest In Zach LaVine

Nov 15, 2023 8:42 AM

The Chicago Bulls and Zach LaVine are reportedly exploring the idea of him being traded. As the first All-Star level player to come available since Damian Lillard and James Harden, LaVine is expected to have a wide market.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are all expected to have interest in LaVine. The Lakers would be bringing LaVine back to Los Angeles, where he played collegiately at UCLA.

Miami missed out on trading for Lillard, and could offer an enticing of package of expiring salary and young players/draft picks to Chicago for LaVine. As for the Sixers, they just created a lot of long-term salary flexibility when they traded Harden. They also have several players on expiring contracts, as well as some draft picks to offer for LaVine.

Heat Offered Gabe Vincent $34M Over Four Years Compared To $33M For Three From Lakers

Nov 6, 2023 10:44 AM

Gabe Vincent left the Miami Heat this past offseason to sign a three-year offer worth $33 million.

Miami's final offer was a four-year offer worth $34 million. The average per year difference was $2.5 million and it also allows him to reenter free agency at 30.

“I think I had a good playoff run, and I think that changed my value,” Vincent said when asked why he ultimately didn’t return to the Heat in free agency. “ I think once that changed, it just became more difficult. I think Miami wanted me to be there. I think I was naturally looking to return to the team I just had a Finals run with and the team I had been with for the last three or four seasons. It’s unfortunate it didn’t work out. But my value had changed.”

Vincent played on a minimum salary of $1.8 million last season.

“I’m not going to sit here and act like the dollar figure didn’t play a role at all. It did. I’m human,” Vincent said of his free-agent decision to sign with the Lakers. “A guy like me with my kind of background, we don’t see opportunities like this often. So I wanted to make sure that I took the best situation overall for me.”

The Heat have the advantage over the Lakers in terms of no state income tax, but Vincent still came out ahead with the offer.

“My taxes took a hit and it still ended up being more,” Vincent said. “Some people will say it’s not much more. But I also was in the G League a year and a half and I was on a much different salary. So I don’t undervalue any bit of it. Obviously, I’m grateful to the Heat and I’m grateful to the Lakers, and I’m excited to have this opportunity and I’m just trying to make the most of it.”
