Heat Fined $25K For Failure To Comply With Injury Reporting

Jan 28, 2023 4:13 PM

The Miami Heat were fined $25,000 for failing to comply with injury reporting. This is Miami's second fine this season for this issue.

The Heat failed to list Jimmy Butler on their injury report prior to Tuesday's game. Butler was ruled out before the game due to back soreness. At the time, Miami said Butler was injured during pregame warmups.

Heat Remain Interested In Jae Crowder But Talks With Suns Haven't Gained Traction

Jan 26, 2023 10:35 PM

The Miami Heat have remained interested in trading for Jae Crowder, but have yet to bring frameworks to the Phoenix Suns that have been appealing. Other teams have a clearer pathway to a trade for Crowder than the Heat and their talks with the Suns haven't gained traction.

The Suns have no interest in taking back Duncan Robinson, who has three seasons remaining on his deal. Meanwhile, the Heat haven't shown any inclination to offer Caleb Martin for Crowder.

The Heat would pursue Crowder if he's bought out, but the Suns remain hopeful they will trade him by the deadline.

Crowder went to the Heat in February 2020 and started throughout their run to The Finals. Crowder went on to sign a three-year, $29 million deal with the Suns that offseason.

Fred VanVleet Drawing Interest From Several Teams, Including Magic

Jan 26, 2023 12:51 AM

Fred VanVleet is drawing trade interest from several teams, including the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, and Orlando Magic, sources told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

The Magic are reportedly looking to bring in a point guard for the long term to develop next to their young talent, which assumes that VanVleet would re-sign with the team should he get traded.

VanVleet is widely expected to opt out of his player option this summer.

Clippers Interested In Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet

Jan 24, 2023 3:31 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers have previously been linked with interest in Mike Conley, but sources tell Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer that they're also interested in Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet. The Clippers can only trade a first round pick in 2028, but they own all of their second round picks beyond 2027. They also have workable contracts for salary matching.

The point guard position has been an area of need for the Clippers as John Wall and Reggie Jackson have struggled.

Lowry makes $28.3 million this season and has been in evident decline since joining the Miami Heat in 2021.

VanVleet will be a free agent this offseason and figures to receive a raise on his $22.8 million salary.

Kawhi Leonard was previously teammates with both Lowry and VanVleet during his lone season with the Toronto Raptors.

Heat Interested In Trading For Cam Reddish

Jan 21, 2023 3:24 PM

The New York Knicks have ramped up their efforts to trade Cam Reddish. New York has been listening to offers for the fourth-year wing and is expected to move Reddish before the trade deadline.

The Miami Heat are another team that has expressed interest in dealing for Reddish. The Heat join the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks as teams who have pursued Reddish.

Reddish hasn't played since being removed from the Knicks rotation in early-December. For his career, Reddish has averaged 10.2 points on 39.3% shooting from the field.

Knicks Looking For Second-Round Pick For Cam Reddish, Heat Remain Intrigued

Jan 21, 2023 1:16 AM

The New York Knicks are looking for at least a second-round pick in exchange for Cam Reddish, sources told Ian Begley of SNY.

"At least a second-round pick is what they're looking for. And I think, with Reddish, some teams are looking at his situation and seeing that he's a restricted free agent coming up this offseason and there's some reticence there," said Begley.

Begley added that the Lakers have a degree of interest, while the Heat remain "intrigued" by Reddish.

Heat Reportedly 'Not Trying' To Trade Kyle Lowry, Remain Interested In Jae Crowder

Jan 19, 2023 11:03 PM

The Miami Heat are not looking to trade Kyle Lowry this upcoming deadline, team sources told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Heat have recently won 13 out of their last 19 games, likely ruling out any big roster-changing trades.

Jackson adds that the Heat would likely not hesitate to trade either Duncan Robinson or Dewayne Dedmon.

The team also continues to be interested in Jae Crowder.

Heat Arena Temporarily Renamed To Miami-Dade Arena

Jan 14, 2023 12:42 AM

The Miami Heat's home arena will temporarily be called Miami-Dade Arena after the team officially terminated the county's naming rights deal with previous sponsor FTX.

"Effective immediately, Miami-Dade County and the Miami Heat have agreed that, until such time as there is a new naming rights partner, to refer to the arena as Miami-Dade Arena. The removal of the facility's existing signage and the changeover of branding elements will be ongoing in the coming weeks," the Heat and Miami-Dade County released in a joint statement.

The team is still in the process of removing all FTX logos from the arena.

The county owns the arena and negotiated a 19-year, $135 million deal with FTX. The Heat were to receive $2 million per year from the deal.

The Heat, along with the county, are currently looking for a permanent naming-rights partner.
