Wade Hasn't Thought Of Playing For Knicks

Dec 26, 2009 9:46 PM

Heat guard Dwyane Wade crushed fans in New York on Friday when he said that he hasn't thought of playing for the Knicks.

Wade, along with LeBron James, will be a free agent after the season.

"I don't ever think about the possibility of joining the Knicks," Wade said after Miami beat New York on Christmas. "I think of the possibility of the summer. It's going to be a very tough summer thinking about where my future will be."

Wade was then asked if free agents should consider the Knicks a top destination.

"It depends if they're looking to be here. A lot of people are happy with where they are. New York is a great, great place, but it depends on if the player is looking to leave," he responded.

Wade: Nate's A Fighter

Dec 26, 2009 8:34 AM

Heat star Dwyane Wade is confident that Nate Robinson will make a full comeback from his situation in New York.

Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni has benched Robinson in eleven straight contests. On Friday, the crowd at Madison Square Garden chanted for Robinson numerous times.

"Nate is a little fighter," said Wade. "For him not to be out there and for them to be winning this way, it's a true testament to them and their confidence. It's unfortunate that Nate is not out there, but there's a lot of guys who went through that and had the opportunity to come back up."

Beasley: I'm Not Tito Jackson

Dec 23, 2009 7:36 AM

Heat forward Michael Beasley isn't happy that Charles Barkley described the team as Dwyane Wade and a bunch of Tito Jacksons.

"I read a Charles Barkley quote when he said we were a team full of Tito Jacksons," Beasley said. "I do not think that at all. Udonis Haslem is one of the best shooters [and] hardest-working rebounders in the league. And I think I can score with anybody in the NBA. It's not about saying it anymore. It's about doing it."

Beasley has scored in double figures in 14 of his last 15 games.

"Nothing against Tito; he's pretty talented," Beasley added. "But when you put him next to Mike [Jackson], it's not really a comparison. It's like saying Rick Fox is talented. But when you put him next to Mike Jordan, it's really no competition."

Chalmers Blames Himself For Benching

Dec 23, 2009 7:32 AM

Heat guard Mario Chalmers doesn't like coming off the bench, but he isn't blaming anyone but himself for the demotion.

"I don't like coming off the bench," said Chalmers. "It's something I did to myself. I let the team down but at the same time I have to keep working and try to be that energy person and bring what I brought as a starter to the second group."

Chalmers started all 82 games as a rookie last season and Miami is 2-1 since the point guard went to the bench.

"[Chalmers] does have fight in him and he has a lot of pride," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "He didn't want to give up that starting position. I know that for sure and he probably does have a little attitude about it.

"Conflict isn't bad when it's healthy and he will be given an opportunity to fight for that position depending on how it's affecting the team dynamic.

"I think he's played with a good focus, passion and consistency off the bench. Carlos has given us a good motor to start the game. We'll see how it turns out."

Wade Says He Has Thought About Playing With LeBron

Dec 22, 2009 2:14 PM

Heat star Dwyane Wade has thought about playing with LeBron James and hasn't ruled out the possibility of doing so in the future.

"A lot of times in this league, players usually wind up going where they can get the most money. We're both blessed within that area. We've made a lot of money. So we wanted to base our decision on two things, the organization and the ability to win a title. And that's what we'll do. When the season is over, we plan to sit down and talk about it," Wade told Peter Vecsey in an interview with the New York Post.

"I'm not saying it will happen. But I'm intrigued by the idea.

"I probably couldn't have handled playing with someone like LeBron earlier in my career, but I'm older now. You're talking about two big egos and meshing them. That'd take a lot of sacrifice on LeBron's part and it'd take a lot of sacrifice on my part to succeed. But we would succeed because we know winning takes care of everything."

Both Wade and James, along with Chris Bosh, are expected to hit the free agent market this coming offseason.

Riley Believes Heat Lack Mental Toughness

Dec 22, 2009 7:26 AM

Heat president Pat Riley believes that he has a talented team, but says they lack a certain toughness.

"What I think the team lacks, a little bit, is mental toughness. A real mental toughness," Riley said.

"Most of the teams in the NBA find those moments that are a blip on the radar screen, where everything looks like it's going down the drain, and it's [about] developing this mental toughness every night."

Miami is 2-3 on their current six-game homestand.

Heat Don't Appear Sold On Chalmers

Dec 19, 2009 7:44 PM

The Heat don't appear to be sold on second-year man Mario Chalmers as their point guard of the future.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel writes that Miami might have to look at a point guard with their cap room in coming seasons.

Chalmers has come off the bench for the first time in his career in Miami's last two contests and his minutes have declined in favor of Carlos Arroyo, who is playing under a non-guaranteed contract.
