Collins To Visit Players Before Lockout Including Iguodala

Jun 25, 2011 12:35 PM

Doug Collins will visit several members of the 76ers before a lockout is likely to be imposed on July 1st.

"We want to reach out to our guys and tell them how important this summer will be," Collins said.

Collins will visit Andre Iguodala, amongst others. Iguodala has been the subject of trade rumors.

"I want to sit down and talk to him and see where his thoughts are," Collins said. "More importantly, I have shared this with his agent Rob Pelinka: Nobody is out there shopping Dre.

"We want Dre," Collins said. "We want him back."

Collins also will meet with Elton Brand and Jrue Holiday. He said he hopes Vucevic also can meet with Brand.

Collins: Sixers Aren't Shopping Iguodala

Jun 24, 2011 6:53 PM

Sixers coach Doug Collins' public stance is that the team is better with Andre Iguodala. So he is looking forward to a sit-down.

"We want Dre," Collins said after the press conference on Friday for draft choices Nikola Vucevic and Levoy Allen at PCOM. "We want him back. He got nicked up last year and was hurt and we think Dre is one of the reasons we are a good defensive team."

Collins will tell Iguodala that all the pre-draft trade rumors didn't come from under the Sixers bunker.

"Nobody is out there shopping Dre," Collins said.

Lakers, 76ers Discuss Iguodala For Odom Trade

Jun 22, 2011 9:20 PM

The Lakers and 76ers have held discussions involving a swap of Andre Iguodala for Lamar Odom, according to league sources.

The deal would save Philadelphia a significant amount of money, as Odom is entering the final season of his contract while Iguodala is owed a combined $44 million over the next three seasons.

The Lakers would have to include more salary in order for the deal to consummated.

Thorn: No Iguodala Trade Imminent

Jun 22, 2011 10:26 AM

Sixers president Rod Thorn said many teams have inquired about Andre Iguodala, and that he, in fact, has initiated some of the talks. It's clear that the Sixers need a big man and a high-scoring perimeter player.

"We've had some what I would call meaningful conversations and some not so meaningful," Thorn said. "But as of right now, we don't have anything that is imminent."

Thorn said he talked to Iguodala three weeks ago. Iguodala reportedly skipped his exit interview upon the Sixers' elimination in the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat.

Thorn said Iguodala has not asked him to be traded.

Sixers Like Morris' Toughness, Attitude

Jun 16, 2011 10:24 AM

Marcus Morris admitted that the thought of putting on a Sixers uniform is exciting, and even found himself pushing it a little more yesterday to further impress coach Doug Collins and the front-office people who were gathered.

"They just think I'm a good basketball player," he said. "I'm a stretch [power forward with outside shooting ability] and tough and have that Philly pride, so they like that a lot. Of course [I pushed it a little harder]. It was a good workout and I wanted to push these guys as much as possible."

That Philly toughness of which Morris boasted was something that left an impression on Sixers Director of player personnel Courtney Witte.

"He's a big that plays big," Witte said. "He's not afraid to get inside and mix it up . . . He's got a little bit of an attitude, courtesy of a Philly upbringing. He's skilled. He's kind of a stretch four, he can go inside and outside. I think that's great that he has that now and he's a pretty good athlete. His mental makeup is one that is a real quiet toughness."

Sixers Will Retain Young, Hawes

Jun 14, 2011 10:23 AM

The Sixers will tender qualifying offers to both Thaddeus Young and Spencer Hawes.

The qualifying offers can be extended any time now, but the team is expecting to get it done by the middle of this week. This is a slightly complicated process, but what happens is that once the Sixers tender each player a qualifying offer, the team earns the right to match any offer made to the player in the free agent market.

Beginning July 1, both Young and Hawes will become restricted free agents.

Report: Sixers, Clippers Discuss Iguodala For Kaman Trade

Jun 8, 2011 6:46 PM

Amid increasing signals that the Philadelphia 76ers are finally prepared to deal Andre Iguodala after years of trade speculation, another potential swap has surfaced that would send the swingman to the Los Angeles Clippers for center Chris Kaman, sources with knowledge of the discussions told ESPN.com.

Although it's believed that the trade has not yet advanced past the discussion phase, sources told ESPN.com that the Sixers and Clippers have discussed an Iguodala-for-Kaman swap.

The Clippers have long maintained that the only scenario that would convince them to part with Kaman -- whose career has been plagued by injuries but who had an All-Star season in 2010 -- is getting an elite small forward in return.

Sixers In Talks With Buyout Specialist To Sell Team

Jun 7, 2011 7:49 PM

Philadelphia 76ers owner Comcast-Spectacor is in talks to sell the team to a group led by New York-based leveraged buyout specialist Joshua Harris, according to sources.

Negotiations are ongoing and a source with knowledge of the talks called a deal "imminent."

The Associated Press, citing a person familiar with the deal who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the team could be sold within the week. The source said Harris' group was not the only bidder but is now the lead bidder, adding the deal has been in the works for several months.

Once the parties reach final agreement, it would become official only with approval of the league's Board of Governors.
