Nets Unwilling To Offer Lopez For Carmelo

Aug 31, 2010 12:40 PM

According to one report, the Nets are not willing to include Brook Lopez in an attempt to trade for Carmelo Anthony. But New Jersey's offer of Devin Harris, Derek Favors and draft picks may still give the Nuggets the best pieces in return for Anthony.

No mention is made of whether Anthony would agree to sign an extension with the Nets or the other interested teams as part of a trade out of Denver. Anthony's long-term commitment figures to be a prerequisite before teams offer the Nuggets quality assets in a deal.

The Nuggets have had discussions with the Bulls that center around Luol Deng and Taj Gibson.

The Warriors may offer Stephen Curry, Andris Biedrins and draft picks but are not sure that they will make Curry available.

The Clippers are called a long shot with Chris Kaman and Eric Gordon the likely two targets whom Denver would look to acquire.

Udoh Wasn't Expecting To Reach NBA

Aug 30, 2010 5:15 PM

Ekpe Udoh didn't see himself in the NBA this time a year ago.

"No [I never thought I'd be here]. It's one of those things that Coach [Scott] Drew said was a possibility," the former Baylor star said. "We had to keep on winning and everything fell into place. It's just a dream come true."

Golden State drafted Udoh with the 6th overall pick in June.

Udoh had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist in July and is expected to miss about six months.

"I haven't started rehabbing yet. I'm just working out, focusing on my core and trying to get stronger," he said. "It was tough at first once it happened. But I realized, this is going to happen in my career. I've just got to take it and get better."

Team USA Lists Curry As Day-To-Day

Aug 19, 2010 2:05 PM

Stephen Curry is day-to-day because of a mild sprain of his left ankle.

Team USA said Curry's recovery was "progressing" but he remained day to day after suffering the injury on Wednesday.

"It hurts. To miss a great practice like this with the scrimmaging and all -- it's never great to have an injury, especially in a pressure situation like this," Curry said.

"I just have to make sure I get back this weekend."

United States coach Mike Krzyzewski has said that he would cut one player after the team's final exhibition match against Greece next week.

Warriors, Pacers, Hornets After Amundson

Aug 18, 2010 7:35 AM

Free agent forward Louis Amundson remains on the market, but Marc Stein of ESPN.com is reporting that may change soon.

The Hornets, Pacers and Warriors are known to have interest in Amundson and he is nearing a decision, according to a source.

There is also an unidentified fourth team in the mix.

A different source claimed that Golden State and New Orleans were making the biggest push, but that Indiana hasn't been quiet about their desire for a forward after dealing Troy Murphy last week.

Jerry West Open To Front Office Return

Aug 16, 2010 4:41 PM

Jerry West is open to returning to the front-office world of the NBA.

West may have returned to the league in that capacity had Larry Ellison bought the Warriors. West and Ellison have long been friends and the two did discuss the possibility of the former player helping manage the team.

Joe Lacob and Peter Guber beat Ellison to purchase the Warriors.

"I haven't spoken to him since, but he would have been a great owner and I'm sure the people up there knowing his ability to get things done, it would have been a great thing," West said.

"But, obviously this other group was very, very impressive in their own right, and I'm sure that they'll do a great job up there. That is a franchise that does have a lot of possibilities."

West made it clear, though, that he wants to return to the NBA in a serious role.

"There's things about the NBA I miss," he said. "I do not miss the deceptive part of it. I don't like the negativity part of it; in all sports, we see a lot of that today. That's the only thing I don't like. But all I seem to know in my life is being involved in basketball, a sport I know and love and a sport that has led me to somewhere in my life I never would have dreamed.

"If there were an opportunity that I considered attractive, and obviously working with the right people would be very, very important, I could have an interest. But it wouldn't be on a day-to-day interest. I've always felt it would be nice to be a working consultant. I'm not talking about somebody that just sits around and does nothing. You're either in or you're out."

Ellis 'Happy' Staying With Golden State

Aug 15, 2010 11:18 AM

Monta Ellis was the subject of trade speculation before the offseason began, but it appears as though he will remain with the Warriors for at least the beginning of the 10-11 season.

"I think that was a rumor," said Ellis. "The deal was with the (Golden State) players who got traded. I don't think it ever was with me.

"I'm happy where I am ... It's like when I talked to (Stephen Curry) this summer. The only thing we can do now is play basketball. I thought we did a great job last season, but we didn't get the wins. They (Warriors management) got us a lot of new pieces (including All-Star forward David Lee from the New York Knicks). Hopefully, we can stick them together and plug up the holes (that) we've been missing."
