Clippers May Soon Need To Decide Between Tyrone Wallace, C.J. Williams

Feb 23, 2018 9:51 AM

The Los Angeles Clippers are running out of days for Tyrone Wallace and C.J. Williams on their two-way contracts.

Wallace has used 22 of his 25 allotted days in the NBA with the Clippers. Wallace could be signed for the remainder of the season by the Clippers.

C.J. Williams is currently out with a right ankle injury but he's in a similar position.

"Hopefully we can get something resolved pretty soon," Doc Rivers said. "We just got to figure out what we're going to do. We may be able to sign one."

Clippers' Refusal To Take Iman Shumpert Was Sticking Point In DeAndre Jordan Trade

Feb 14, 2018 10:03 AM

Koby Altman received permission from Dan Gilbert for the Cleveland Cavaliers to trade Jae Crowder, Channing Frye, Iman Shumpert and Cleveland's 2018 first round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers for DeAndre Jordan.

The Clippers were willing to accept that trade if the Cavaliers found a third team for Shumpert and the $21 million remaining on his contract while also helping them get a center back.

Altman and Michael Winger made calls to try to find a third team.

Winger asked if he could communicate with Shumpert about a potential buyout, but Altman wanted the talks to be more advanced before granting that permission.

Altman had discussed a Jordan trade with Lawrence Frank and Winger for weeks but they were difficult to make progress on because the Clippers wouldn't take Tristan Thompson, JR Smith or Shumpert.

The Cavaliers ultimately traded Shumpert in a three-way trade with the Kings and Jazz that netted them George Hill and Rodney Hood.

Clippers Sought First Round Pick For Avery Bradley

Feb 12, 2018 9:49 AM

The Los Angeles Clippers were more motivated to trade Avery Bradley at the deadline than they were DeAndre Jordan.

The Clippers sought a first round pick for Bradley.

"They wanted a first rounder for him and just couldn't get it," said Marc Stein on the Dunc'd On Basketball Podcast.

Stein also talked about how second round picks were difficult commodities to acquire at this trade deadline, which made first round picks nearly impossible to acquire.

The San Antonio Spurs were "very interested" in Bradley, "but the price was too high."

The Spurs and Clippers discussed a Bradley trade involving Danny Green and a first round pick.

Cavs, Clippers Held Advanced Trade Talks On DeAndre Jordan

Feb 9, 2018 1:06 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers held advanced trade discussions on DeAndre Jordan on deadline day. The two sides were unable to come to an agreement and the Cavaliers pivoted to a pair of deals involving the Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz.

"There were people in the league who thought there was traction towards the Cavs making a deal with the Clippers yesterday morning," said Brian Windhorst on The Lowe Post. "The reason people thought that was because there were other teams who were engaged in trade talks with pieces that would have spun off from that trade.

"So it got to the point where the Cavs and Clippers felt like they were close enough to some sort of agreement with each other that they could begin looking to bring in third teams and that's why I know about it.

"The Cavs and Clippers got some distance down the road with DeAndre Jordan. At a certain point, the Cavs elected not to make the deal with the Clippers and instead made the deal with the Lakers. Maybe that was for a hundred different reasons we'll never know. Maybe it was because in addition to negotiating with the Clippers, they had to negotiate with DeAndre Jordan, because he has a contract situation and if he was traded, he would have wanted to get an extension alongside of it.

"The Cavs were also talking with the Hornets. I just didn't see a deal path there unless they were willing to take on a huge sum of money, or willing to include the Brooklyn pick.

"They ended up making deals with four teams (at the deadline) and they were talking to at least six, and probably a lot more."

Raptors, Clippers Discuss DeAndre Jordan Trade

Feb 8, 2018 12:00 PM

The Toronto Raptors have emerged as a team interested in trading for DeAndre Jordan.

Jordan can become a free agent this offseason.

Any trade presumably would include Jonas Valanciunas and there would need to be a third team to facilitate.

The Cavaliers have also been interested in trading for Jordan.

The Cavs and Clippers are including conversations with third teams to help facilitate a deal.

The Cavs are attempting to improve their roster by only parting with their own first round pick and retaining Brooklyn's.

Thunder Have Strong Interest In Avery Bradley

Feb 7, 2018 10:23 PM

The Oklahoma City Thunder are believed to have strong interest in trading for Avery Bradley.

Bradley is available in trade talks by the Los Angeles Clippers as he's on an $8.8 million expiring contract.

The Thunder have a need on the wing following the season-ending injury to Andre Roberson.

Bradley has a history in effectively defending Stephen Curry and Chris Paul.

The Thunder have limited ways of acquiring Bradley as they can't trade a first round pick until 2022.

DeAndre Jordan Remains Cavs' No. 1 Trade Target

Feb 7, 2018 7:02 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to explore the trade market ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.

DeAndre Jordan, who is likely to become a free agent, is atop their list of potential players they can acquire.

"They are going to be aggressive," said Shams Charania on a Yahoo! Sports podcast previewing the trade deadline. "They are looking at guys like Derrick Favors. DeAndre Jordan is their No. 1 target. If they can somehow convince the Clippers to take on one of their bad contracts, whether it is J.R. Smith or Tristan Thompson, and give their own first, they would jump on that.

"But those scenarios just aren't in play right now."
