Wade Won't Let Anyone Cut His Hair Overseas

Jul 30, 2008 12:13 PM

Dwyane Wade has shaved his head and won't let his hair grow out the way Vince Carter and Gary Payton did during the Sydney Olympics of 2000.

But that doesn't mean he will let a local barber cut his hair either.

"I'm not letting nobody cut my hair overseas. I'm sorry," Wade said. "I don't want to even worry about it. I'm not trying to look pretty. I'm strictly about basketball right now."

Miami Settled On Keeping Marion?

Jul 27, 2008 12:57 PM

One veteran scout said Michael Beasley's defense -- which the Heat will emphasize this summer -- "Left a lot to be desired in [the Orlando summer league]. He doesn't have the mind-set for it, and he would have trouble defending small forwards."

That is surely one incentive to keep Shawn Marion to play small forward next season, and there is sentiment inside the Heat to do that although it will listen to offers.

The Heat views Beasley primarily as a power forward.

Jul 27, 2008 12:32 PM

Jazz forward Carlos Boozer recently responded to rumors he could be traded to Miami.

"I live in Miami during the offseason," said Boozer. "Obviously, they have a huge hole at power forward. I'm very good friends with [Heat owner] Micky Arison. So, the rumors are going to fly. We'll worry about those [rumors] later. I don't concern myself with rumors, rumors of being traded."

Jul 26, 2008 1:17 AM

Dwyane Wade stepped into the starting lineup on Friday night and scored 20 points in his first action in more than four months, and the USA beat Canada 120-65 in the opener of its exhibition schedule, as reported by the Associated Press.

LeBron James missed the game because of a mildly sprained right ankle, but the USA had plenty of offense without him. Carmelo Anthony and Michael Redd also finished with 20 points, and Kobe Bryant added 15.

Jazz Say Heat Won't Tamper With Boozer

Jul 16, 2008 3:33 PM

Utah General Manager Kevin O'Connor doesn't believe that the Heat will tamper with forward Carlos Boozer, who can become a free agent next summer, according to The Deseret News.

"I have enough respect for the Miami Heat, and for (Heat GM) Randy Pfund, and for (Heat president) Pat Riley, that I really have a great deal of confidence that that's not something that they would do," O'Connor said. "I really do. I really feel that way."

Boozer lives in Miami, and the Heat have been mentioned numerous times as a possible destination for the All-Star should be decide to leave the Jazz.

Wade Would Welcome Reunion With Odom

Jul 15, 2008 11:28 AM

Lamar Odom has been frequently mentioned in Lakers' trade speculation, and Dwyane Wade acknowledged there still are times he thinks about his former Heat teammate.

"I love L.O. as a person and, of course, as a player," Wade said. "We had one year together. I wish we could have had more."

"It's a guy who I've always said it's a possibility when he left that he can maybe come back. ... A player like that, we would love to have a chance to get because he's so versatile."

Lue Narrows Choices To Three, Includes Heat

Jul 14, 2008 8:09 AM

Free agent point guard Tyronn Lue has narrowed his list of preferred destinations down to three, according to The South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

He would like to sign on with either the Heat, Suns, or Celtics.

"It's a good spot here," Lue said of Miami this weekend while participating in Zo's Summer Groove. "This definitely would be a good situation."

The Heat only have a $1.9 million mid-level salary-cap exception remaining to offer, with Lue saying he would be receptive to working off that figure.

Miami has yet to make an offer.

The cause was Alonzo Mourning Charities, the primary beneficiary of Zo?s Summer Groove, which is now in its 12th year and traditionally closes with an All-Star caliber matchup.
